Everyone was so friendly! We went for family day after the fun snow the day before. It was a cold day, but still many people showed up. We got lucky abs the museum was open and free too. Normally there is an admission fee. Family day is the second Sunday of every month. My kids did a scavenger hunt, went through the exhibits, outside to the cabins, watched the live gun show, and enjoyed the family activities in the hall. The staff dressed up and were so fun and nice. My daughter enjoyed the lady who taught them a dance. We loved dressing up in clothes from the colonal times. Plenty of seating at their outdoor amphitheater. Exhibits have many interactive stations for kids. Our visit superceded my expectations. They have their own parking lot as well. Btw, I wasn't sure if they would be open because of the snow, so I sent a message on Instagram, not expecting a reply the day, but I got a reply in less than five minutes. I was over the moon. I was so hesitant to drive the hour while uncertain if they were going to be open or not, so that was a huge relief when I got a response! That's great...
Read moreThis is a little late and I do apologize. Now I don't usually leave reviews so if I do its because I was really impressed with my visit. My friend and I went on Super Sunday (a free day) we enjoyed the museum and learning about the local history. I am a fairly new resident to Georgia and he is visiting from South Africa I thought it would be a good idea to experience it together. We were impressed with the reception lady. Her name is Paula and she gave us a mini tour since it was our first time there and gladly answered all of our questions. We checked out the gift shop and bought a few things to remember the day. We stayed a little longer to talk to Mrs. Paula she was good spirited and has a good sense of humor. In my opinion she brings life to the North Georgia History Center. Mrs. Paula please don't ever change. I plan on coming back and bringing my family hopefully Mrs. Paula will be there when I do. Thank you Mrs. Paula for your...
Read moreWe visited the History center on the free family Sunday. The time period was WWII and the branches of the military. One of the men told his father's story of his time in the war. It was very interesting and engaging. All of the things they had on display (ration books, the uniforms, field phones, gas masks, and so much more) we're interesting to see. We also toured the rest of the museum and the cabin. We came from an hour and half away and was not disappointed. I would definitely go again for a family day! What a wonderful thing for the History Center to be able to do for...
