I’ve been to Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodles a couple of times now, and while I can’t deny that the food itself tastes great, the overall experience has left me with mixed feelings—mostly negative. Let me break it down. First, the positives: the rice noodles are delicious. The flavors are bold, the ingredients seem fresh, and the presentation is appetizing. It’s clear they’ve put effort into making the dishes taste good, which is why I gave them a second chance after my first visit. But that’s where the good stuff ends. The service here is, at best, mediocre. Both times I visited, the staff seemed disinterested and unengaged. It took forever to get their attention for basic requests like water or extra napkins, and there was no warmth or friendliness in their interactions. It felt like they were just going through the motions, which really detracts from the dining experience. Now, onto the biggest issue: I felt extremely thirsty after eating here—both times. It wasn’t just a normal “I need a sip of water” kind of thirst; it was an intense, almost uncomfortable level of dehydration that lingered for hours. At first, I thought it might just be a coincidence, but after experiencing the same thing twice, I decided to dig a little deeper. From what I’ve learned, Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodles doesn’t make their broth in-house like many authentic noodle shops do. Instead, they mix hot water with a special seasoning packet that’s shipped from their corporate office in China. While this might ensure consistency across their franchise locations, it raises some red flags for me. I suspect this seasoning mix might be loaded with sodium or MSG, which could explain why I felt so parched after eating here. I couldn’t find specific details about the ingredients in their seasoning (they’re not exactly transparent about it), but this lack of clarity makes me question how healthy it really is. I really wanted to love this place because the food itself is tasty, and the vibe of the restaurant is nice—clean, modern, and cozy with wooden tables and a casual atmosphere. But the combination of lackluster service and the unsettling thirst I experienced has left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). I might consider coming back in the future, but not until I can confirm that their special seasoning is actually healthy and not packed with additives that leave me feeling dehydrated and uneasy. For now, I’d recommend proceeding with caution if you decide to eat here. The food might be great, but the overall experience—and potential health concerns—make it hard to give this place a...
Read moreThis is truly a special gem & hole in the wall restaurant in Gainesville. We were passing through Gainesville on the way to Disney and were hungry and tired and just looking for something pan asian but all the other asian restaurants in this city looked greasy, fatty, salty, MSG-loaded, & just unappetizing. We decided to give Ten Second Noodles a shot and it was totally worth it! It’s very conveniently located near the freeway in the Publix shopping center so parking is easy. The service was super friendly & fast, the decor/ atmosphere/ambience was very clean, bright, & contemporary without being too fussy, and the best was the food. We all got the original beef noodle soup which is a pork based soup with thinly sliced beef, ham, fish cake, veggies. The soup was perfect for a cold winter day. The best thing was that it tasted not overly salty/spicy, was very hearty, and felt home-cooked. Oh and try their pumpkin cake! So delicious! We also got drinks to go for the road. I got the Passion Fruit smoothie & was so happy that it was made with fresh passionfruit (not the syrupy goop that boba shops usually use) and is not too sweet. Also the server was very accommodating when my husband asked to adjust sugar level for the milk tea to 50%. All the prices were fair and worth it! I will be coming back and 10/10 recommend this place to anyone looking for something healthy and homecooked...
Read moreMy new favorite place in Gainesville! I love everything about this resto. Everything I have ordered so far is authentic, fresh and delicious. I love sour soups, so I have had the sour spicy beef soup and the sour cabbage beef soup. Something to note - their food is authentic so the soups are very spicy for me. I am very weak when it comes to spice. If you are too, then I recommend ordering your soup with light spice.
I have also had the black fungus with vinegar sauce, fried chicken, and shrimp fried rice. Their fried rice is the best in town. The food is incredibly flavorful, and their portions are amazing! I can eat A LOT, and I am a happy full whenever I leave here. Prices are super reasonable.
The resto itself is very clean and well decorated. It gives a light and chill vibe. And the service is great. One of my favorite things is that mainly all the customers are Asian - that's how you know the food is good and authentic lol. Being a minority in this town, it is so nice to be surrounded by other Asians and to hear different languages as you are enjoying your...
