Yiku Sushi — Restaurant in Gaithersburg

Don’t come here if you have a nut allergy!! I ordered a California roll and tuna roll over the weekend through uber eats. Other items on the menu note when they have peanuts but not the rolls that I ordered. Felt weird after eating one piece of the California roll so called to double check with the restaurant. Sure enough they use peanut butter in their California rolls (everyone’s so creative these days). I was so shocked because I’ve never seen this before at a sushi restaurant. Nuts are one of the most common food allergens in the US and it’s extremely irresponsible for the restaurant to not at the very least disclose on the menu (on their website or through uber eats) that the item has nuts. When I called they were also extremely rude and dismissive saying I should have added it to the notes as if it’s some rare obscure food allergy no one else has. They only offered a store credit for the California roll which is quite frankly insane. Thankfully I only ate one piece and...

We just moved into the neighborhood and are slowly trying out the restaurants near our house. Saw this little spot and looked it up. With only three previous reviews, we weren’t sure what to think of it. But decided, what the heck let’s give it a try. Let me tell you, hands down one of the best sushi joints anywhere in the 15 mile radius. First off, very easy online menu and ordering process. When we went to pick up our order we were met with the most friendly and attentive staff. Our food was ready on time and we brought it home to eat it. And as soon as we opened the bag, we were so impressed. Huge rolls, with honestly some of the freshest ingredients. I mean look at the size of that avocado chunks, look at the fish chucks. The rice was fresh and made well. The presentation was beautiful too… of course I couldn’t help myself to a few before taking those pics. This place has officially become our favorite sushi joint! Service sucked, food sucked. My friend ordered a mackerel ginger roll. He took one bite and was disgusted. When I told the waitresss she was like "uh sorry you wanted that, you have to pay for it", and then literally ran away because she didn't want to deal with it. ANY restaurant I have ever been in would fix the situation, not run from it. I've never been told I had to pay for something that I didn't like or at least wasn't offered something else. I've worked in the service industry and I can just say, that was extremely poor behavior from the server (woman with short dark red hair) and for management for not doing something about it. I know she ran to the back and said something to others about it but nobody came to rectify the situation. I will NEVER come back and will tell everyone I know to stay...
