Read this to hear how Coastal Flats treats their patrons. ⬇️ Let me start by saying the Crab Sliders & Bread Pudding was delicious, the ambience of the restaurant is also nice. With the staff being so nicely dressed, I expected better service. I ordered the Louisiana Pasta, and as a traveler and foodie, I don’t like to return food as I understand the time and care that it takes to prepare each dish, even ones with a unique flavor palette. But I simply had to return this dish, the pasta was not cooked completely (yes it was semi-hard), and though the dish has sausage in it, I did not expect the entire dish to taste like a breakfast sausage. It was salty and the whole thing, including the pasta itself tasted like (only) this one ingredient, although it contains many other ingredients. So, I politely requested the waiter send something else, something popular and that she recommended. She stated the Crispy Two Noodle SHRIMP Salad would be a great selection.The salad comes out, not a single piece of shrimp was on it. It looked like they threw noodles on a garden salad and told the waiter “here, just give them this”. I then told the waiter that she could return the salad, as I no longer was interested in ordering anymore food. As I was a bit offended by their carelessness to forget shrimp on a shrimp salad. She was kind enough to send out a Bread Pudding on the house, which I appreciated. However, I was perplexed when the manager came over to deliver the bread pudding, not apologize for the food quality, and then proceed to drop a dirty utensil on one of my guest’s clothes, getting food and sauce on him, hardly apologize (if he did at all), and then have the waiter come back with the check showing the salad listed on there. Yes, the shrimp salad that I ordered (the one that came with no shrimp), which I did not take a single nibble of because (well), it didn’t have one of the most important ingredients. To make things easier on them, I’d recommend you all order a shrimp salad with no lettuce or shrimp and wear a poncho to dine here.

Read moreI really didn't want to do this review because I used to come this location often and was impressed by the food and service. Recently the past few take out orders we received have been awful. It's the equivalent to the curbside at Burger King. And the "curbside" delivery is a joke, because it doesn't happen most of the times.
We know the quality that's expected from The Great American Restaurants brand, as we used to frequent Mikes & Best Buns. So we know the exceptional service and quality product they usually provide. Unfortunately, it's not up to par at this location.
Last time we ordered approximately $170 worth of food in take out orders and items where missing from the order. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager and let her know. She offered to send a gift card because of the missing items. Curbside never came outside even tho we called. And there's a desk right at the front, they can see when people pull up.
We ordered again today. We ordered Ozzy Rolls and asked for extra honey butter, instead we got no honey butter. We ordered the chopped salad which we have had there PLENTY of times instead we where give more of a garden style salad, it's def not chopped. And we ordered 3 of those. If you don't want to chop the salad please take it off the menu. My husbands salmon that was on his salad was sooooo underdone. Pretty much raw!!! We cooked it additionally in the microwave because it was raw. This is really just unacceptable. I should have wrote a review the last time it happened, but I wanted to give them another chance.
We have ordered from their sister store Mikes American Grill, in Springfield and have never had this problem with orders missing items, "non curbside" curbside service, raw food, just everything.

Read moreWe have been coming here for a while now with my sister, her husband, my wife and I. The staff is always friendly, food is great. My wife and I live far away, so this is a long drive for us. This review is about the management personnel and not the Server Staff or the food. My sister always liked the “Stainless Steel Round Top Bowl (or - sugar bowl)” on the table and wanted one. Her husband tried to order one the when it arrived it was too big. So during our last visit (early April 2025) I tried to purchase the “sugar bowl” to surprise my sister and wife. But to no avail !! I first asked the middle age female (of color) manager (not server) if I could buy two. Her response was very sad and weak - “Oh, those are only made for us; and I would need to check with the kitchen staff to find out if you can purchase them”. Guess what - she never followed up during our entire visit (at least 2 hours). So, we asked our server to help and he did the best he could. Finally, another manager (Ryan) came by our table and stated they don’t have any extra to sell and thanked us for “not stealing these sugar bowls” - because some people do. He gave me his business card and told me to email him and he would include us in the next order. I did email him as soon as I got home and NEVER heard back from him - Never (and as of this review posting date). So needless to say - I (we) are very disappointed with the non response of the Costal Flats Management staff that we dealt with. Why tell me you will follow up and you don’t!! Why give me your business card just to ignore my email…..!! Needless to say, this is a big turn off for all of us and I won’t be driving 45+ minutes to dine at Gaithersburg Costal Flats.
