First let me say, this our second time coming and the food does not disappoint. However, the service sux! We were greeted very promptly and seated, the server came and asked what we would like to drink. They have Pepsi products and unsweet tea so we went with water. Before she left the table I asked if I could order from the lunch menu since it was 20 til 11. She said NO! Not let me see what we can do for you... nada.
She quickly brings the water and asks are we ready. Well full of dissappoint I still hadn't decided on what to eat so My Hubby asks if we can have a few minutes. Well 5 minutes passes and he sees her in the corner so he smiles and waves at her. She looked the other way! So I waited another few minutes and I turn to see her eating! So I smile and wave! Hello we are hungry too! She ignored us! If the food wasn't so good I swear I would have left!
So I turn and see two servers and I smile and wave and she waves back! Not let me check on you just a wave! My goodness! So I wave her over and ask may we please order? She says let me get your server and we told her she is in the corner eating.... What we would like to do is order with you. She says "Oh! I hope I don't get in trouble for taking your order!" So I said take my order and I will tip you! Can you imagine pleading to have someone feed you.
Finally, we get our food! My Hubby ordered the Breakfast Burrito with the green chile sauce on the side. That thing is huge! And oh so delicious! Gut buster for sure! I had the Beef Enchiladas with 2 fried eggs, hashbrowns and beans. Oh and a sopapilla. My plate was so big it could have fed 2 easily. The red sauce is to die for and the egg yolk mixed in with the Enchiladas was amazing! My goodness now I remember why I wanted to eat here! The food is amazing! A must try but good luck with the wait staff hope your experience is better. Oh and I did walk my tip over to the server who...
Read moreThe food is great!! However, there's a waitress whom happens to be of a Hispanic origin whom totally started to create some animosity and now has grew out of control and today my visit with jerry's has become limited because of the tension. I have reported this to the owner and apparently nothing has been done about it because this person continues to work in this place and today I had to deal with this individual again. Instead, my mother and I received poor services such as refills on coffee or tea, a simple "how's everything?", to "anything you need," to "any refills?", to "thank you for your visit" I could feel the tension and eyes among employees as the "instigator" made humor of our visit and mocked us. Apparently it's ok to treat dedicated customers of 20plus years to their own liking. I had to even ask for a to -go containers as the Anglo cashier just gave us a bag without helping whatsoever. At that moment, I told him thank you for your help and he turns his back on me without a word.. I'M TOTALLY IN DISGRACE WITH THIS CAFE AND ARCHIE THE OWNER THAT HE ALLOWD THIS BEHAVIOR AS HE ALREADY AGREED OF THE BEHAVIOR OF THIS VERY INDIVIDUAL. While this episode arose, I had lost my appetite and had the desire to leave however didn't have the courage to leave my mother as she tried to enjoy her meal, don't get me wrong, YES!! the meal is great and always has been until recently a waitress spends her time "instigating & mocking" dedicated us Native Americans as customers. My thoughts now stop attending this place, I'm not up to per at the moment....
Read moreWe pulled into Gallup on a weekday morning at 0900, having already been on the road a few hours. We were surprised to find a line stretching half down the block mid-morning on a work-day. After our fifteen minute wait for a table, and another five to order and receive our food, we understood why.
So, fresh New Mexico chile makes everything better. When the simple, New Mexican food you're adding our amazing not-so-secret spice to is already excellent, the result is on the order of OMG!
Between the three of us, we answered "both" to the state question. The green chile sauce was a thick, rich, smoky, and riddled with hearty chunks of the spicy, local pepper. The red chile sauce was a silky concoction, with the deep, rich, homey flavor of a thousand memories of standing at the stove with my grandmother, dipping tortillas in hot oil, then the slowly simmering red sauce before stacking them with fine layers of cheese, frijoles, beef, or whatever we hid between them for a given meal. Only, this red chile sauce was even better than my grandmother's!
Nobody saved me bites of either the relleno or the breakfast stuffed sopapilla, so I can only take the words of my companions for the amazingness. Well, their words and the simple fact that they polished off every morsel! With delighted surprise, I have to say I'm looking forward to the next road trip that takes us through Gallup, because I know where we'll be stopping...
