Mel's Blueplate & Seafood Express — Restaurant in Galveston

Firstly, this is a gas station eatery. So keep this mind for what to expect. The food was good. We got the chicken fried chicken dinner and the double hamburger. Everything was good but one reason why I couldn’t not give it 5 stars on the food was the oil smelling a little fishy on the chicken fried chicken so my assumption is the same oil is used to fry up seafood and fries and everything else, not a good way to do it. That was my only gripe. The ladies who cook and server were awesome they were kind service with a smile and that always makes the experience so much better! So thank you ladies for that...

Funny enough, this ended up being my favorite place we ate at in Galveston on our vacation. I randomly found it based on reviews as it was not planned at all. I got the shrimp po boy and it did not disappoint! Very delicious, crispy, and a large portion. My wife got the burger with onion rings and she enjoyed it a lot. My kids for the grilled cheese and fries; no complaints. The lady's cooking in the kitchen were very nice and patient with us newcomers. Just a heads up that this is inside of a gas station with three or so tables. Not a ton of room to eat but it was fine for our family. I will come...

Oh my, oh my. Another hidden treasure. Hidden inside a Valero station, this place is definitely going to be a repeat. Owners Belinda and Becky are great. Greeted as we entered, and personality overflowed from Belinda. Everything was so delicious we forgot to take pictures. Curtis' hand mashed beef cheeseburger, Courtney's hand mashed turkey cheeseburger, and my BLT with hand dipped onion rings. 10+ on a scale of 1 to 10.
