Overall not impressed, but there were a few highlights. Appetizers were really good and the Cesar salad was one of the best I have ever had. The lobster bisque is one of their most acclaimed items on the menu, and rightfully so because it was phenomenal!...unfortunately that is pretty much where it ended. There were four of us at the table so we ordered four separate items with intentions of sharing (22oz dry aged strip, prime ribeye, stuffed redfish, & lamb loin chops). The fish and lamb arrived first, followed by both steaks roughly 5 minutes later. The stuffed redfish was tasty, but I could tell it had been sitting for a while before being brought to the table, the lamb was cooked and seasoned nicely, again... unfortunately that is about all I can say about the entrees because both steaks were severely overcooked. We ordered both steaks medium rare but they both came out medium well/well done. Our waiter was very understanding and took them back assuring us he would have the kitchen cook 2 new steaks for us. After another 20 minute wait the new steaks were finally brought out. The 22oz strip was cooked to temp, but they missed the mark again on the ribeye. At that point we all became a little irritated with the situation and just asked that the ribeye be taken off the bill and proceeded to share the 22oz strip, which was mediocre at best. When it came time for dessert we were all ready to just throw in the towel, but since it was my birthday I was offered a dessert on the house, for which I chose the New York style cheesecake w/strawberry drizzle on top because it looked amazing!!! Unfortunately looks did not translate into taste! It was literally one of the worst pieces of cheesecake I have ever eaten. I seriously doubt it was made in-house and there was some type of waxy coating on it. I think the waiter may have taken me too seriously when I pointed to the cheesecake and said "I want that right there"; I'm thinking he may have actually given me the piece that was on display! To satisfy the sweet tooth that I had developed I orderd a Brandy Alexander, which they make with ice cream, and it was pretty damn good! Overall I gave this place a 2 star rating because the staff was very friendly and the appetizers, soup, salad, and dessert drink were very good. However, that is not what brought us to Shearn's restaurant. We went there expecting exactly what is in the name "prime" steaks and seafood. Instead we got "prime" starters and mediocre entrees! Given other reviews of this place, I hope this was an anomaly, but with the number of empty tables we saw last night, it seems to me this could be more of a trend than a...
Read moreMy husband and I came here 4 years ago on a date. We decided to take the kids with us this second visit while staying at the hotel. We made reservations for 9pm and arrived 10 minutes prior. It took about 25 minutes to get our table. After seating, we waited a very very long time after that to get our drinks. We waited a full hour and still had not even gotten our menus to order. I understand that they may be short staffed due to Covid, but limit how many guests you take in. The couple behind us in line had no reservations. We had reservations. I feel like reservations should take priority especially when your that busy. There was another family who was after us who got menus and another family after us who got menus + got to order their food. Even the couple who had no reservations got their drinks before us. The server was not efficient at all and there was no rhyme or reason to how she did anything she did. She could have bought herself time by handing out menus to tables and then taking drink orders. She was all over the place and you could hear her complaining about how many tables she ha, making everyone feel like an inconvenience... with how much money everything cost on the menu and how much is expected as a tip, the customers shouldn't feel like a thorn in someone's side. A notebook and pen would have helped her tremendously. I saw her return to tables repeating what she thought they had said they wanted. I had asked right when we sat down if she could rush some food out for my 1 year old. It took over an hour to get. It was after 10pm when we just walked out. We were not the only tables that walked out either. We watched two tables walk out before us. The manager found a few of us on the 1st floor and comped us food from the other place.... because the place near the pool ran out of pizza and the 1st floor eating area was closing. It literally was the worst timing... to have waited over an hour, not recieved menus, then to find out everything on site was either closing or didnt have food to feed your family. Thank goodness the manager tried to make it right. The 2 stars is for the manager. I give 0 to...
Read moreShearn’s has been and will continue to be one of our very favorite ‘fine-dining’ restaurants anywhere we have ever been. We stayed at the Hotel Saturday night & made advance reservations for dinner that evening. We started out with cocktails in the Lounge & Logan was wonderful. At dinner we were seated by the window - greet table & Damien was our server. We could not have been more pleased - great service & recommendations! I had the Escargot & my husband had their French Onion Soup for starters. He then had their Blue Cheese Wedge salad & I had to get their Caesar Salad (always the best). For our entrees - he ordered the 16-oz NY Strip & as always I had their Petit Filet with their amazing Peppercorn sauce. Over the years we have learned you must order your Soufflé beforehand, as it takes 45-minutes to prepare...we each had the Soufflé Grand Marnier...spectacular! We also enjoyed a glass of their Port Wine with our dessert. We wish there were comparable restaurants in Houston, but not any longer...so we will continue to come down for a treat whenever the urge hits. Thank you for a beautiful & tasty evening!
UPDATE - We live in Houston & being a weeknight…we did not wish to spend the night at the hotel, so we drove 60-miles to and from… BUT Shearn’s food and service made it 100% worthwhile the trip. The restaurant is what we would call ‘old world’, in that everything is top-notch - from the servers, food being brought to your table on serving carts, to the outstanding quality of food served. We have never had a meal that was not perfection! Our server, Sergio was the best! We had such a wonderful time - we made reservations for Valentine’s Day for us and...
