First I must Say all the Food I have ordered here and their previous location absolutely incredible. I have eaten there more than 5 times to this point. My last 2 visits have been very challenging. Around 1 pm I order a pick up by phone. I said to the young polite man on the phone what sandwich I wanted Kedba seared beef liver ,he did not under stand after I went back forth trying to communicate (language barrier issues, no worries we can figure this out)the sandwich I wanted. He keptsating "kafta" I said ,NO kedba seared beef liver, after at least 3 more verbal exchanges he replyed there are sandwich 1,2,3, which do u want. I repeated Kedba...hmmm. I GUESS #3... we were getting no where fast. I arrive at the resturaunt to pick up kebda. He said Kafta, i show him the picture on the menu. He says this one...Oh, ok we can make it. He is very polite and apologetic. While i waited for my carry out food a couple sat down to eat they were not really addressed in a timely manner and when they were it was through language barriers, so the couple decided to politely say thank you and left. I love their food and will not stop going. So I decided today I will go back I get some more carry out food. The same young man at the counter takes my order. I literally show him on the menu by pointing at what I want. Egg plant pickles and Kedba sandwich. This surely will connect us through language barriers. He says I understand thank you. He then proceeds to tell me a drink is included with sandwhich. I don't drink pop, but I said ok ill take a diet coke. Communication is still quite challenging at this point. When my order is ready I get the kedba sandwich, no eggplant pickles, and pop that he charged me for that i didnt even want. I asked where are the pickles? He says I dont think you order them. You want to order now? Are we serious or am I getting punked ...lol. i dont want to be critical of any person and I will not be critical , but please work out the the interactions with customers, especially new customers because they will most likely give up leave and not return if they experienced what I have in the last 2 visits. I can assure you I will return because the food is incredible. I just want the Egyptian Kitchen to survive so I can eat here often. Owners and or management please take this as constructive and not critical. I'll...
Read moreTonight, we took another place off our list of somewhere new to try, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. From that delicious smell in the air as you walk into the diner-esque seating with a big window, the place was inviting. We were greeted upon entering and sat ourselves next to the big window that looked out onto Ford Road.
We took a minute looking over the menu. Some of the dishes were very familiar medderteain meals we have had prior. Others were very new. Starting off, we ordered the Eggplant Pickles and a couple of Fakhfakhina's to drink. Both were excellent in their own way. The pickles had an interesting texture of puree and solids. The flavors inside were both sweet and salty, which blended nicely. The drink was quite tasty and complemented the meal from start to finish.
Moving onto our entrées we ordered up a Marcroni Bechamel as well as a Feteer Sharqi. Most nights, we don't indulge in much cheese, but tonight we did. I don't regret it at all. It was amazing. I grew up with different variations of the bechamel, but none quite as creamy as this. It was just delicious from the first bite to the last. My wife got a few bites in here and there and quite agrees. She was focused in the feteer with its flaky crust and backed in toppings. I snagged a piece or two, and I was quite happy. So good.
We had to stop ourselves from finishing both plates and save space for dessert. The leftover entrées were gobbled up by our teenage son after work. He loved it, too. I digress, back to the desert. We asked for the menu once more and chose the Umm Ali. It's just delicious. It was damn good. Make sure to plan ahead for some form of dessert when you come.
All in all, I do recommend them, and I will be back to try more dishes. And maybe a side of the macaroni, LOL.
Do recommend, will be back....

I was hoping to find at least one good restaurant in the Garden City/Westland area. Unfortunately this failed to deliver like a lot of the local establishments…and I had low expectations.
Food: The lettuce was wilted and past its last leg. I could have made the exact same salad at home - there was nothing Egyptian about the salad. There’s absolutely no way the obnoxious portion of rice wasn’t a day old and microwaved - it was dry as a bone. The meats were also dry as a bone and without water being refilled, this became a real chore to eat. The chicken was burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The lentil soup was embarrassing - they burned the soup! How do you burn soup?! It tasted like someone put a cigarette out in it. If I don’t get food poisoning from this place, I’ll be incredibly thankful.
Service: The waiter didn’t check on us once and we were the only two people in the entire restaurant. Water cups empty - we had to ask for more water. No plates - we also had to ask for those. He was too busy with whatever was going on his phone.
Atmosphere: The decor and walls were scuffed and out of place. Seats not pushed into tables. Tables weren’t clean. We had used napkins nestled into the corner of our table.
I honestly don’t know how this place will stay open without waking up. A real bummer for a horrible experience and leaving with the taste of cigarettes in my mouth at $60. I’m also...
