Eiswelt Gelato — Restaurant in Garden Grove

To start off, service is pretty bad. Seems like the employees have little to no patience. On my first visit, I had no idea what I wanted or what size I wanted, so while waiting in line I started to observe the menu. I was only able to see half of the flavors on the display since the other half were being blocked by the customers ahead of me. Once the employee asked what I wanted I said, "I know I want a double scoop, but I just want to see the rest of the flavors". Then she said, "ok, well what's the first flavor you want". Even though we had just starting talking to one another, said sounded very irritated. I asked her what flavors they had on the other side and she only named a few. Luckily, the customers who were blocking the display had moved, so I was able to see the rest of the flavors. On a second occasion, I was in line with a friend and while were talking, we noticed one of the employees knew the customer behind us. As they were talking away, we noticed he started taking her order. At first we didn't mind since she ordered something small and we figured it wasn't going to take much time, we were wrong. They seemed to have gotten lost in their conversation because he never acknowledged us. The 2nd employee, who was attending a large party ahead of us, ended up assisting us.

Don't get me wrong, the flavors are really good. My personal favorite is the cake flavored ice cream. It's surprisingly good and very creamy. Pricing is roughly $3.50- $6, depending on what your order of course. They have plenty of parking amd seating available. I'm not sure if I want to return since I haven't had the best service here. Am I "WOWED" and "AMAZED" by the flavors? Not really. It was cute experience for the kids, who loved the bear creation. As far as flavor, there is really nothing unique about the flavors of the gelato. When I saw "dairy free" option on their menu, I was really excited. But I was very disappointed when there were only 2 flavors to pick from. Not much of a choice there.

I came to Eiswelt Gelato with a small group of friends and our kids. It was really hot outside and we were hoping that this ice-cream parlor could give us some relief from the heat and the ice-cream would cool us all down. With that being said, how do can you sweating beads in an ice-cream parlor? But sure enough, we were all sweating and the ice-cream melted much faster than anyone had anticipated. I looked at the thermostat on their wall and it read 85 degrees! And I'm not talking about the bakery. That was the temperature inside the parlor!! Really?! Note to owner/employees: You might want to think about cranking up the AC a little bit in there.

That's my thoughts on the place. It was a mediocre experience. Cute ice-cream is not the same as fantastic ice-cream that I can have over and over again. I eat ice-cream for the flavor and the enjoyment, not for the cuteness. And for the price, for another buck or two, I can buy some pretty great gourmet ice-cream that I can have at home that won't melt like crazy 2 minutes after it's scooped from it's container.

I had been eyeing this place for a while now. I found it on Yelp looking for ice cream shops. It's a cuteness overload on how they make the gelato cones into little characters. The gelato shop is in a shopping center and there's plenty of parking. The shop is small and there's a few tables with chairs to sit down and enjoy your gelato. You can order a character gelato in a cone or cup. I ordered the piggy with piglet which is $5.00 and it's 2 flavors of gelato. They have a lot of unique flavors like rose lemonade, tiramisu, and jasmine milk tea. You can sample 3 flavors only so choose wisely.

I ordered the strawberry and hazelnut gelato in a cone. The piggy character comes decorated with marshmallows for the nose and chocolate for the ears. The gelato is full of flavor and doesn't taste watery or bland. The service was excellent, and the cashier greeted me with a smile and explained the popular flavors.
