Was on the hunt for Korean comfort food and decided to try this place based on the reviews. They have three tables outside for dining and it was clear they had a robust takeout operation. Given that it’s a modest unassuming spot, I was impressed with how busy it was and the food was great. Four of us sat at one of the nostalgic tables from the days of playing in the ball pit at McDonald’s. (You’ll know if you go.) We started out with an order of the steamed veggie and pork dumplings which are made in house. They were perfectly cooked and were delicious. (The dumplings themselves are traditionally bland and meant to be dipped in the ponzu-like dipping sauce.) For entrees we ordered a selection of grilled meats (kalbi, bulgogi, and spicy pork bulgogi) and there were all really good. The bulgogi was tender and well-seasoned and the spicy pork had enough heat without burning my lips. We also ordered a bowl of kalguksu (knife -cut noodles in broth) which was enormous! They offer a selection of broths including clam, beef bone broth, and traditional anchovy which is what I opted for. The broth was savory and the noodles were great. It easily could have served as the meal for two people. As for the banchan (side dishes), they presented a nice array of options, including a veggie-fruit salad and sautéed potato sticks which I hadn’t had since I was a kid. All very good. They serve beer and soju and the service was warm. If you’re willing to overlook the understated decor, I think you’ll be pleased with the selection and flavor of the food. It’s definitely found a spot in our regular rotation...
Read moreA few years ago I ate here (ordered Gamja Tang) and got some of the most severe food poisoning I ever had in my life. It was apme of the worst I ever had. I was sick like a dog for almost a week and thought I would die with vomiting and some of the worst diarrhea imaginable.
The food poisoning was so severe I had really high fever fever and I was bed stuck for almost a week.
I talked to my Mum (who is an experienced chef) and she mentioned that that happens when a restaurant serves old/expired meat. So instead of throwing the meat away, bc the owners of this place were so cheap, they served me spoiled meat.
As such, they served me a Gamja Tang soup that was literally poisoned with bacteria. Worst place ever. Never going here again and I would not recommend anyone...
Read moreWhenever I visit CA, this is my favorite dine out place to eat. 1.A lot of selection of menu and most of them are pretty good. Fresh side dishes and server ladies seem very busy, but also always does their best to customers. The owner lady is very sincere, honest and patient person. I saw many times that she asked some weak and poor elderly people, whether they need more free rice or not.(as u know, extra rice is charged.) Seems like she always tries to take good care of every single customer. She seems like working 365days for a year, but never expresses her tiredness or discomfort to her employees or customers due to her hard work. No matter you are korean or not, they always bring you good quality of food with good manner. Great portion of food with...
