Let's start with the food stuff first. The star of the show; the FRIED CHICKEN! Seriously one of the freshest, crunchiest, and juciest chicken I have had the pleasure of having. Unlike some other chicken wing joints, these wings are pretty big and they are loaded with meat! I usually order the WHOLE CHICKEN, but this the i decided to get the soy wings and I was not disappointed and would actually come back to this place for the chicken, albeit to go.
Now the bad. Is Saturday night so service is slow because the place is packed. I've been to my share of Asian restaurants, by for some reason there never seems to be enough staff at the time that the most staff is needed!
If you like plain rice with your chicken like I do, don't order it here. It's dry and looks like it's been sitting for oh let's say 1 day. That's because they're trying to look 2 birds with 1 stone and use the day old rice to make fried rice.
Next up we have the SUPREME FRIES. Not so SUPREME. Actually underwhelming. Fries curved in cheese and topped with scallions and bacon bits from the can. No bueno. Plus, please don't put a picture of the real SUPREME fries looking all good then bring out something that looks like it was just thrown together.
Lastly, the bill. I know there is a law stating that Oh California its not permissable to automatically add gratuity on for 6 or more people. However I think this is up to the restaurant itself. So the waitress stresses that there is going to be an 18% gratuity added on because we have 12 people. So I ask her if it's going to be for the whole table or each individual check. Her answer; the whole table.
Will come for the chicken, but will...
Read moreI came here on Sunday afternoon for some soul food and beer, and I do love Korean style fried chicken.
The business was not too busy on a Sunday afternoon, there were only about 2 - 3 tables occupied when we (2 people) walked in, and I don't expect it to get that busy since there are only two staff working the front. They have TVs on the walls airing sports and the individual bathrooms were clean.
The service was good, after taking our drink orders we were brought complementary salad, radish, and a side of ranch (we had to ask for ketchup). The nice thing is that if you enjoy the salad they will bring out more.
For the main we ordered the half and half (two flavors of a full chicken) and we chose a regular as well as the soy. The chicken was a bit disappointing, the regular chicken was more oily than I am used to for Korean fried chicken. I noticed the soy chicken had a lot more batter so it looked large, but there was not that much meat.
For the two of us, we were stuffed with our order. Very filling, so I would probably advise skipping the side order if you are going to eat a full chicken with a pitcher of beer. Price came up to be around $42 before tip.
Price: $$ ($21/person)
I would definitely go back for some beer and chicken here and could definitely spend more time just hanging out and drinking. I would recommend getting the regular chicken and asking for sauce on the side, and next time I would try the...
Read moreLocation was easy to find. Parking was easy. Our server, Tammy was very friendly & helpful. Great service!
We had the spicy rice cake, soy chicken wings, and sweet & sour wings, along with a pitcher of Saporo.
They start you off with a complimentary cabbage salad with a dressing that taste like the sauce on a Big Mac, except it had a tiny bit of spice. It was very enjoyable and we at it all. Tammy even offered us more. They also gave us some sweet pickled radish cubes, which were also very good.
The soy wings were really good & crispy and seasoned just right. Not too salty like some of the reviews mentioned.
The sweet & sour wings were delicious and my favorite. They would've been even better if they were spicy too. The wings we got vs what I've seen online had less sauce, but I think it was the perfect amount. I usually like my wings coated with a lot of sauce, but I felt like these were just right.
All in all, everything was really good, but everything was just a tad too sweet for my preference. I wanted to switch between different bites for relief from the sweetness, but everything was on the sweet side, so it got a bit much towards the end for me. I probably should've ordered kimchi to break things up a bit.
If you happen to be in the area, give them a try! We'll be back to try their...
