Maybe the owner’s reaction is the reason I didn’t tell him directly? What an unprofessional and aggressive response imagine if I did say something yikes. A few months ago I first noticed a toxic and chemical taste (possibly dish soap, hand soap, cologne and/or cleaner) on some items in the salad that comes with their plates. I am extremely sensitive to chemicals and have excellent taste buds and can immediately tell when I’ve ingested poison chemicals because I get irritation in my throat and brain. Most people are not like me so they don’t taste or feel things unless they’re sensitive. I appreciate they are sanitary especially in these times and my theories are this could be from what they’re using to wash their produce, washing their hands without rinsing the soap off well then cutting produce or cleaning prep containers but not rinsing well then putting food in them. Please do more to make sure chemicals aren’t transferred to the food during storage and/or prep because it makes some of us with multiple chemical sensitivity sick. There are also excellent non-toxic, unscented hand and dish soaps out there that work very well (I use them and handle produce all the time but never get sick). If someone is wearing cologne please follow the standard in kitchens not to wear scented products so the chemicals don’t ruin the smell and taste of the food. It’s been the same experience in subsequent visits (including my last visit about a month ago). I’ve been coming here for a while and wouldn’t stop coming over some trivial issue so clearly this is...
Read moreI'd had Jack's bookmarked for YEARS and I finally had the opportunity to check it out a few weeks ago. Located in an unassuming strip mall, the place is tiny, spare, and does not have AC. On a sweltering weekend afternoon it could be likened to a circle of hell, if not for the heavenly food coming out of the kitchen. Poor Jack was just sweating BUCKETS but still had a wide welcoming smile and treated us like gold. We got an order of the spinach calzone-like things (forget the name) and a falafel plate that came with hummus, pita, and various pickled things. Pretty standard fare, right? Not in Jack's hands: his falafels are the BEST I've ever had--donut-shaped, which was a little odd, but very light and fluffy! Often I'm disappointed by leaden falafels, but not these guys. Everything else was great too but that falafel, wow. I'm drooling just thinking about them! Now that the weather's cooling off it might be a better time to visit; if you haven't already, do so posthaste! BTW, my bf and i were excited to try their "taffy" ice cream after some friends told us about it, but alas, they no longer...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Jack's Bakery & Eatery and it was an unforgettable experience! This cozy family-owned restaurant offers a warm and friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The menu is a great mix of classic and unique dishes made with fresh, high quality ingredients. I ordered the Lahmajun and it was delicious - full of flavor and beautifully presented! Every bite showed the attention to detail and love that went into the meal. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Jack's Bakery & Eatery is a must-visit. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the setting is perfect for a cozy meal with friends or family. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes....
