It's been quiet awhile since I've visited William's, After our experience last night, I'm so sad that I haven't been back sooner! Such a great experience, the remodel of the bar and dining room is very clean and welcoming. The staff was so friendly full of smiles, and on the ball. As we waited for our order a nice hot mini loaf of bread was brought to our table, nice hot and soft, a real welcome treat. My wife ordered the teriyaki beef, as I ordered the lazy stuffed lobster (after clarifying that it was actually fresh shucked and not canned) though I still had my apprehension that it was actually canned, I ordered it anyway. To my pleasant surprise, it actually was fresh shucked! The lobster was sweet and tender topped with a buttery cracker crumb stuffing, a side of butternut squash, whipped with maple syrup, and fries, though precut and frozen, had such a great potato flavor I didn't mind. I cleaned my plate, even using the left over bread to sop up everything I couldn't get with fork. My wife ordered the teriyaki beef and thoroughly enjoyed it along with the butternut squash and the baked potato. She did share a bit of her teriyaki beef with me, a tender piece of flank steak, cut properly in the kitchen to add to it's being tender. The glaze and flavor from flame broiling was so delicious. The only down side was the red velvet cake, though the flavor was there, a little lacking in the cream cheese flavor of the icing, was also dry. Could've been from refrigeration as it had the unmistakable fridge flavour. With the exception of the dessert, I highly recommend visiting Williams restaurant, we've already chosen our dishes for the next time we return! A great small town, mom and pop destination that truly deserves support! Thank you Williams, fir a...
Read moreMy husband and I just moved to Gardner & every time we passed Williams, the parking lot was very full. We took that as a good sign about the place & stopped in on a Monday after seeing the $5 burger & fries sign hanging outside & special on the website. It was our first time there and we were excited to check it out & potentially add it to our list of go to places. Our waitress was very kind & attentive despite it being busy. We let the waitress know it was our first time at Williams and then ordered burgers off the menu, expecting them to be $5. When we got the check we were confused since the bill was higher than we expected. We asked about it and she told us the $5 burgers are different burgers, not the ones on the menu. I think the differentiation between the burgers needs to be made more apparent. There is no small print saying the $5 burgers are any different than the ones on the menu. And when we asked our waitress when we got the check, she said the restaurant was out of the $5 burgers/didn’t even have them that Monday night. If you have signs hanging outside advertising $5 burgers, you should have enough of them to serve customers (it was only 5:30 pm) and make it clear which burgers were $5. Right away the waitress should of said “hi I’m so and so and I’ll be taking care of you tonight. Just letting you know we are out of our $5 burgers, sorry for the inconvenience...” it was our first time there and we didn’t know any different. A bit frustrating and not a totally great experience but the burgers we did get were...
Read moreOverall, this place gets a MEH. I won't be back. My daughter had an event in town on Saturday night that left me and my wife with 3 hours to kill. We decided to try out this place based upon it's Google rating. Upon arrival at about 7 PM, the parking lot was packed, so good vibes. We had to wait about 15-20 min to be seated which was fine, the place was really busy. After we were seated, we were ignored by our server for about 15 minutes. Finally, I got the attention of another server who agreed to take us on as our server was "overwhelmed". My wife ordered a creamsicle alcholic drink and I ordered a beer with an order of potato skins. My wife's drink looked bad, smelled bad and tasted horrible. It looked like a frozen coke slushie but had a bad medicine taste. The potato skins came out and are "Farm Rich" brand skins that you buy at Walmart....no joke. We complained about the drink and they remade it. What came out next did not resemble the first drink at all and was very tasty. I have no clue how they managed to screw that up. Anyway, we ordered 2 ribeyes. They weren't cooked correctly and definitely weren't USDA Prime. They were chewy and grisly and just not good. The baked potatoes were small and bland. I kid you not, the best part of my meal was the side salad I ordered instead of their vegetable side for an upcharge of course! All in all, we were out the door for $105 with tip and will...
