TL;DR: Stunningly good wings that may blow your mind.
Note: this is basically a take-out only establishment with only one tiny table.
My girlfriend and I wanted some Korean fried chicken and we noticed this location having a full-on 5.0 star rating, which is unheard-of on Google reviews, so we decided to check it out.
My expectations were very high, but the food exceeded them in every way.
The chicken is very light and isn't greasy at all, but the meat is incredibly tender and moist, fried to perfection.
We started with the Golden Original, which is a very neutral flavor but the key draw is the texture, which is very fluffy/crispy/crunchy, but without being flaky somehow.
Next we tried the soy garlic, which was absolutely phenomenal. The glaze somehow bubbled up into an incredibly crisp shell around the meat, giving both the flavor and moistness of a glazed chicken, with the crispiness of a breaded chicken. 11.0/10.
We also tried the galbi glaze, which was extremely well executed, but it was a little strange having galbi flavor on chicken. Definitely interesting, but I don't think I'd order it again.
Finally we had Gangnam Style, which had a very complex and deep flavor profile. It's sweet and black-peppery, with the slightest hint of sourness. Its flavor is reminiscent of hot and sour soup, but more mild. Each bite is fascinating. It's best to cleanse your palate between each Gangnam Style wing.
Each chicken wing was cooked to perfection, not even the slightest hint of burning on the breading or any undercooking at all, despite the varying wing sizes.
Additionally, the take-out boxes are clearly optimized to preserve the crispiness of the breading. They each have one large and several small vents, stopping steam from building up and rendering them soggy. They were bagged accordingly as well, in a way that ensured that the big vents were all exposed.
All in all, this was clearly the best Korean fried chicken...
Read moreI’m a big fan of Korean culture and Korean food, so I’ve been wanting a Korean bbq spot in Garfield for a while now, and we finally got one. I feel lucky that I live one block away, and I don’t have to drive like 15 minutes to find a Korean spot since there are not a lot of Korean places around Garfield. The owner is so nice, and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet. I introduced my family to Korean fried chicken by buying them food from here, and they absolutely loved it. My absolute favorite thing to get is the Gangnam style boneless chicken. I also love the tteokbokki. If you are someone who wants to try foods from different cultures, I would recommend bb.q chicken, especially if you’re in the...
Read moreGuided for the "halal" Muslim eaters.
Although this place has "halal boneless wings", this voids it as being halal permissible. I spoke with the store worker and they were very polite. I have explained what they were advertising is false (most likely they simply are unaware!). However, due to probably lack of knowledge! They are cooking the "halal" wings with non halal meats in the same oil. They may not understand the guidelines of what "halal" actually means and it's strict guidelines. Also, cross contamination with other utensils and kitchen tools can make the food non halal. Please always ask questions especially if the owners/workers may not be Muslims themselves and if it actually meets...
