My wife and I recently had our wedding reception at the Venetian earlier this month. While the food, servers/staff, venue were all great we had a major issue with the ice sculpture and some of the sales staff/management - hence the 3 stars.
With our booking, we had booked an ice sculpture to be displayed during cocktail hour. My wife and I chose 2 hearts with our names written on it. To our shock, when we arrived at cocktail hour to greet our guests, we noticed that the large ice sculpture featured at the center of the room for everyone to see had BOTH of our names spelled incorrectly. One letter was completely missing from my name, while my wife's name had 2 letters in incorrect order. To make matters worse none of the staff had noticed this error and still displayed the sculpture for everyone to see (if they had noticed and simply not displayed it, this would have been better than having the incorrect names put up). For such an expensive wedding/venue we expected better. It was extremely disheartening that something like this happened and put a damper on an otherwise joyous day.
The worst part of all this was that multiple times before the event, including 2 days prior, we had called The Venetian and asked them to please make sure our names were spelled correctly (they had misspelled them on the draft for one of the menus already). We were assured everything was checked and double checked and everything was correct. Despite the reassurances, our names were still spelled incorrectly.
While one of the managers did call afterwards to apologize and offered some compensation for the error - which was appreciated - it unfortunately could not correct the error on our wedding day.
I also did appreciate Elizabeth - one of the sales manager reaching out after the event to call and apologize herself.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same about Paulina - another sales manager that we worked with on the menus/ice sculptures/drinks. She did not reach out at all afterwards, ignored my emails and had a fairly dismissive attitude.
We had called her the day after to inform her what happened and instead of offering a solution or apologizing her response was something to the effect of "Oh are you sure you spelled the names correctly on the contract?"
She was rude, dismissive and unhelpful. I do think we know how to spell our names - and for the record we did go back and confirmed that our names were spelled clearly and correctly on all the contracts/orders.
We also had issues with her throughout this process with her trying to overcharge us for our guest count, her making spelling errors on our drinks menu (which we had to correct) and of course the biggest error of having our names spelled incorrectly on the ice sculptures (which we booked through her).
My advice to anyone booking through the Venetian is to please be careful if booking with her and to check and double check and triple check your spellings - sadly this may still not be enough as it was in our case.
Such a shame as everything else otherwise was great but this was a major, major error that should never...
Read moreThis was the first venue we toured after getting engaged. My SIL booked here and had to go to the Seasons due to COVID restrictions (terrible review for service there btw), but we checked this one out around 6 months to give it a shot.
Driving up to the Venetian was not nice at all. The streets surrounding look very rough and there’s a dollar store across the street. Once you get through the gates, it looks a lot better, but the parking lot is literally falling apart. We overlooked this because valet would be parking our guests’ cars anyways.
The inside is spacious and everything is marble. This review isn’t to say that the interior was unattractive because that’s certainly not the case. However, we had a pretty poor experience with the professionalism and service.
Off the bat, we were told there were no “off seasons”, so the price was the same for Jan-Dec…which was already weird. We got their contact info and continued touring other venues.
A few weeks ago, we fell in love with another venue less than 20 mins away. There were really tall windows in the main room (the Venetian felt like a marble cave), a beautiful driveway with a massive front lawn, everything the Venetian was missing. But before signing a contract, we wanted to see what else the Venetian had to offer, as they were the more familiar venue, so we called. We explained that we had toured before, but we just drove up from Virginia to try and book a wedding venue, we were ready to make a deposit and sign that day, we just had a few questions and would like to see if we could come in. The person on the other line was extremely rude and dismissive…like she was trying to rush us off the phone. She ignored our request to come in person, and didn’t offer an alternative. Her answers were curt and her tone was…sassy? She didnt even offer to connect us with our former tour person. This was at 1pm on a non-holiday Monday, so I don’t understand what the inconvenience was.
I’m not expecting a venue or it’s workers to be caring and super personable, but when we’re looking at spending over $30k for an important event, I expect some good service…especially when we were coming back after a tour and expressed serious interest in booking. Anyways, we called the other venue right afterwards and booked for 2023.
I know the Venetian is a popular venue for all types of events in northern NJ and they’ll never have a shortness of potential brides, but I’d really encourage them to train their staff tk navigate these conversations in a more...
Read moreMy (now wife) and I got married at this venue over the weekend, and we are absolutely blown away by this place. The food is comparable to a Michelin star restaurant, the venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and the staff that took care of us during our special day was absolutely phenomenal. Misurela, the bridal attendant ( I think) went above and beyond the entire night. This woman took better care of me than my own family ever has, and by the end of the night I felt like she should have been a guest at the wedding rather than working there. There is absolutely nothing I can complain about when it comes to the venue or the day of the wedding.
The ONLY reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the woman that we worked with leading up to the wedding, Elizabeth. We spent a significant amount of money for this wedding, and every step of the way she treated me like I was attempting to buy a 15 year old Honda Civic with a 230 credit score. This woman absolutely should not be working in customer service. Every call an argument, every request denied (until going to somebody else), every comment matched with an underlying rude tone. There was absolutely no accommodation on her end, and every time I called the venue and was directed to her I was dreading the following conversation.
Again, this venue and the wedding day that they facilitated was absolutely incredible. I had a building full of European Jews that are never satisfied with anything, and I have been getting calls all week talking about how amazing and perfect the Venetian was. Thank you for the absolutely unforgettable night, and whatever you are paying Misurela/the bridal attendants, it most definitely...
