Competitively priced hole in the wall burger joint with solid options. My phone call and 3rd party app takeout experience below.
Service: I’ve had consistently good service and when I forgot my wallet and phone I was able to enter my memorized card information into their terminal to pay for my food.
App: since these services take a whopping 30% for pickup or more if you’re ordering delivery, everything on the menu is priced 30% higher to make up for it. I call this the social anxiety tax.
Cheeseburger: I typically get a toasted slightly buttery bread with a properly browned patty (maillard reaction) that varies from lightly to moderately seasoned each visit, and the veggies used don’t taste wilted which adds to the synergy - a very solid cheeseburger.
Avocado burger: like someone pictured the amount of avocado used is generous compared to other places. Good burger.
Chipotle burger: good burger with a slight kick to it.
Habanero burger: spicy burger with a nice kick to it.
Turkey burger: it be good.
Seasoned fries: crispy and seasoning varies from lightly to moderately seasoned per visit, pretty good nonetheless. We’ve measured it anywhere from 3.5 to 5 ounces.
Curly fries: great texture and lightly seasoned. We’ve measured it anywhere from 3.5 to 5 ounces.
Ketchup: it may be silly but it’s nice to see a ketchup that doesn’t use high fructose corn syrup.
Suggestions: find a 3rd party pickup service that doesn’t...
Read moreI'm not sure I understand the fabulous reviews this place is receiving. My son said his fries tasted like raw potatoes. I had a bite, and he was right. They had not been cooked through. He said the meat tasted like sawdust. This is a kid who eats double meat double cheeseburgers plain and dry (he's recently added bacon – that was the only thing that was really good on the burger, he said). I ordered an appetizer of fried pickles. I actually thought they were pretty good. They were in a cornmeal crust, pickle spears, a departure from the pickle coins one usually finds. This is why I didn't give them a 1.star review . I did get an extra ranch dip when I asked, at no charge (again why the 2.0). We will probably not go back – we only went because it was right next door to DPS.Nice folks, just I think better...
Read moreThe overall experience is good, as you walk upto the place you can smell the wonderful savory smell of the beef cooking. However the burger me and my son had was just okay, it didn't live upto the expectations we had. For the price you pay for the burger it is a great value, the burger is big. Now when you add the fries and drink, not so much. They give you a small side of fries and a small drink, which if you take to go is not satisfying I would recommend eating there so you can get free refills. I guess me and my son are spoiled since we have a burger joint by our house and the burgers are the same size and taste better, also they give an ample amount of fries and a large drink. Burger Island in rowlett is the name of the burger joint that out...
