This chain was purchased by another company called Pappas. They have over the last few months changed the recipes and not updated the menu , they are cutting cost left and right and itnis affecting client experience . The salsa is served piping hot. The new chips are so thin the salsa makes them go immediately limp. And the flavor is absolutely horrid. Tonight I ordered guacamole which according to the menu comes with red onion, cilantro, salt and lime. For 9.29. What I got was a bowl of plain chunky barely mashed avocado with no red onion, cilantro , lime or salt. I went through two waiters and two supervisors. And they refused to make it as it appears on the menu. I was told they would be getting new menus in a few weeks but they were given direction by the new owners to make items according to the new recipes. They said the only way to get it with all of that was to pay extra to have them make it live at the table. As you can see from the attached photo, the full price appetizer is supposed to come With it. I will not be back to any of the On the Borders anywhere. On a positive note, the Margarita is still tasty. My friend and I have been coming here regular every few weeks for almost two years now for Friday happy hour. I noticed a few months ago the change in quality of food. But hot salsa, over salted thin chips and plain avocado is just too far for me as a customer. I’m done.

Came here on Cinco De Mayo, a little after 7:00 p.m. I sat at the bar. Service was pretty slow, my waiter was somewhat erratic. He would almost run when he had to do something, like he was the only one working, but the place was well staffed, so the urgency seemed weird. Silverware, straws, and refills came a little late. My combo fajita order looked much like a lunch special portion. The rice and beans were cold and bland. When I picked up the plate I could feel dried food on the bottom. Asked for a cup of queso, I got a bowl. I asked for no sour cream and guacamole, I got both. The spots next to me at the bar sat dirty for a good bit, 10 minutes or more. I’ve been done with my food now for 15 minutes and still haven’t got my check. The Mesquite location is far better. A 5 star experience every time I’ve gone. I’d go there if you were craving OTB.

They dropped a whole tray of salsa ON MY 4 MONTH OLD BABY.. her whole head face car seat outfit everything soaked.. we were there to celebrate my other daughters birthday and of course left and she couldn’t even get to eat but the worst part was they apologized and tried to offer me a free appetizer to make up for it. As if the same thing they give away in welcome emails would make up for this horrific event 😩 I’m completely mortified RUN STAY AWAY THEY HAVE NO TRAINING HERE I wish I had more pictures this was after I ran to the bathroom and started to wash her in the sink so the salsa wouldn’t burn her skin - the shirt was not touched by water it’s purely soaked from salsa Any lawyers on here reading this HMU , never have I ever witnessed such a thing

I’ll start out by stating the servers here are always AWESOME! Special shout out to Clay, Laquita, and Haley! I have a couple of complaints but the overall Food here is AWESOME! I was a server at OTB mesquite before I started my business so I know the ins and outs.

1.Customers will come in stand at the front for 2 seconds and then try to seat themselves instead of being patient. All they see is an empty table not realizing if there is a rotation or not. So instead of you waiting at the door and getting seated in the proper section at the proper time and getting exceptional service you have just sat yourselves in a servers section who just got sat three times and now you’re complaining because you didn’t get your cup of queso/guacamole on time.

2.Me and my family come here at least twice a week. They are shorthanded about 60% of the time and that brings them down -1 point. I don’t understand why the hostess will sit a busy server and not the chip the table or get drink orders. Most of the time we didn’t even have silverware.

3.One of my servers told me that they aren’t allowed to combine salsa cups they have to bring it to us individually and I was so confused. If I ask for 4 extra salsa cups (because it’s watered down sometimes) what’s the difference between 4 salsa cups and 2 salsa cups with double the amount so I won’t have to call my server every 3 seconds?

4.It bothers me that the bathrooms are either always dirty or not enough of anything in them. That sink in the women’s restroom has been broken at least for 5 months now. The paper towel dispenser has a mind of its own and the restrooms have always had a fishy smell. (are the host not checking them every 30 mins?)

Other than all that stuff I love this location. I grew up in this area so as long as the doors are open...

I got food poisoning after eating the chicken flautas here last night! Within 2 hours of eating I had severe stomach cramps and other intestinal issues I’d rather not say on a public forum but I’m sure you can guess! That’s not even all. I had to walk to the back and ask someone to seat us after waiting for a few minutes upon walking in. There wasn’t a single worker was in sight. A customer at the bar saw us standing there and motioned us to grab a seat but even though I haven’t been to an OTB in years, I knew we don’t seat ourselves. Finally the guy I found when I walked to the back and asked to seat us (who was very kind and friendly) seated us. Our waiter Cody was really nice to us, too. I planned on leaving a 2 star review because even though the service was freaking slow, and half our food was cold when it finally came, both Cody and the guy who seated us were so nice that I wanted to leave a second star for them alone. But not after getting food poisoning. I can’t in good conscience leave a good review for a place like this. The chicken flautas had runny chicken inside, like it was a chicken sauce instead of real chicken, and it tasted odd but I just thought it was a unique chicken flauta. No. After getting so sick (and still am), I now know it was bad Chicken. I will never ever eat here or probably at any other on the border ever again. Disgusting. Waiting forever for half our food to be lukewarm or cold. $9.50 for old queso. No way. Avoid at all costs yall. And Cody and sweet other dude man need to find a better company to showcase their friendly skills with. This company doesn’t...

I’ve been dining at the Northwest Hwy./Saturn Rd location since it originated - well over 50 years. Today I stood near the front door for probably two minutes or so, which was no big deal, but then decided I might as well just eat in the bar area since that”s where most of the activity was. I walked over toward a young lady and said I can just sit in here, but if I could get someone to wipe off this table. Again, no big deal - it just needed wiping off. She motioned for a young man to wipe it off which he did, and I kindly thanked him. From that point she acted as if she had been put out to accommodate me, And then when she placed the menus on the table, I kindly said I already know what I want, “I just want a bowl of your tortilla soup and probably a drink here in a few minutes”. She abruptly turned and started walking off, and I said you can leave the drink menu, so I can look the drinks over - she rolled her eyes and pretty much pushed the menu at me on the table and I watched her walk toward the back. She came across the young man who wiped my table off and made a comment, and they both looked back at me. That’s when I decided that , I’m not putting up with that attitude from someone who I did absolutely nothing to.. I got up and informed the young man to cancel my order, that I was not going to put up with an attitude like that from the young lady working in the bar area. Totally disappointed today and a bit angry that my afternoon was pretty much ruined by this young lady who evidently was having a bad day and decided to make me the target of her...
