Norma's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Garland

Horrible experience. Stopped there yesterday at 2:45 after running errands in the area. Ordered the enchiladas special that includes 2 enchiladas and a crispy taco. The special included a beef and chicken enchilada. Asked if the beef was shredded or ground. The server said ground. I said just make it 2 chicken enchiladas and the taco that comes with it. I ate the food, it was not good, had to assemble the the taco that was cold. Asked for the check and they charged 4.00 separately for the horrible taco, bringing the bill to over 19.00 for a 10-11 dollar lunch special. I asked them to take the taco off, they said no. I told them I would not pay for the taco. They said they would call the police, I said go ahead. The first Garland officer showed up, I explained what happened. They stated I ate the taco so I had to pay for it. The officer was very reasonable and offered to pay for the meal. I insisted that I could and would pay for my meal minus the taco. The officer paid for the taco. About this time 2 more Garland officers showed up, even though the situation had been resolved. All of this over a misleading menu, bad food, and horrible customer service. Skip this place at all costs! Oh, and there was definitely racist vibe happening as I was the only person of color in the restaurant. No effort to please the customer at all, just looked for a way to add additional charges to the bill and make the customer the villain. And by the way, the officer that showed up agreed the menu and pricing were not clear...

Aaahhmaazing!! So good I forgot to get a picture... So to start... spouse and I used to go here for lunch years ago. That kind of faded with job changes and stuff but we wanted a quick dinner together. I don’t remember why we haven’t been back but it’s been too long.

Had combo fajitas for one (shared because both former weight loss surgery patients.) The chips were warm and crisp and delicious. The salsa was cold and spicy and just the right mix of sauce and veggies. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and the plate was hot enough to sear and char the plentiful onions and peppers into crispy oblivion. A splash of lemon was the perfect compliment to the seasoning. The tortillas were thin and strong, so no doughy sticky bites. The guac and sour cream offset the heat from the salsa perfectly. The chicken was seared nicely and the steak was tender with just a bit of char from the hot plate. We ordered charro beans which were savory and hot. Since we don’t eat rice, they offered double beans.

We did not leave hungry. In fact, we left with lunch for tomorrow. And that was a single portion, not the double. Service was prompt and very friendly. All had masks and were covid observant. We tipped more bc we loved the setting and service. It’s back on the fast quick meal list and maybe next time I’ll snap a pic before...

Please Don't Eat at this place! Today after all the places I have eaten I can say this was the worst place. They play the Christians and Godly, but laugh and talk about people, also prejudice , putting all this aside, until today I had to return an order and reorder my food , I asked for chips to have with my refried beans 3 times, then they got cold, so I said to go please with chips, the Waitress wanted to charge me for the chips to go also had the nerve to say well you sent back a perfectly Good plate, i said yes because of watered down Gravy. During check out the owner takes her side, after I explained what happened infront of my Family. People, it's about the principle I did nothing wrong, and she was allowed to ruin my Lunch be argumentive and rude, pretty much because I returned a plate I pray this never happens to you to be punished during your 2nd meal because you returned your 1st meal, hypocrites! The substitution and quality of food will go down because I saw this today. All this, after years of eating there. Loyalty here gets you No Where!
