Honestly, major disaster of a visit. Went here on 12/27 for dinnertime. Tried to be open-minded over the fact its their first week of service, but the experience we had was so bafflingly bad that I’m not entirely sure the restaurant owners or staff have ever actually dined at a restaurant before to know what even basic level service is like. It felt like the restaurant was staffed with 1 chef and 7 useless front people with 0 awareness that they’re supposed to be working a restaurant.
First off, the restaurant itself looks nice. The overall interior was nice and clean, my party was 5 and seated ar a large table for 8. The seats for the large tables are a mistake, they’re far too wide to actually fit the space making it difficult for people to actually get into their seats. It’s especially difficult if back to back tables are seated bc then other guests are trying to squeeze in behind you.
The real bad part for this review is the service. It started off well but then became absolutely terrible. My party arrived around 7:20pm. Seated immediately, given water and other accompanients, menus, and spoke a bit with the waiter for their recommendations. We ordered from another waitress that we flagged down for attention who wrote down our dishes. Ordered 4 drinks (2 viet coffees and 2 teas) and 7 dishes (one of the whelk dishes, snail in coconut milk, duck egg with squash, and a couple others). After ordering, about 10 minutes later we got our drinks, which were good. The viet coffees were a touch on the sweet side and weirdly served in to-go hot coffee cups. The peach tea and rambutan milk tea were also good. The rambutan milk tea was a good milk tea but fell flat for us as it didn’t taste anything like rambutan. After about another 15-20 minutes we received the snails in coconut milk. The snails had great flavor. The coconut milk was maybe a little sweet for our taste. After another maybe 20 minutes we then received another seafood dish (cannot recall the shellfish) that was spicy and flavorful.
After the 2nd dish had come out, maybe 45 minutes had passed of us w 0 interaction by any of the 6 or 7 staff at the front who had been: 1) walking around aimlessly, 2) chit chatting with the tables right down the middle of the restaurant in front of the counter bc those tables are actually in front of their faces, or 3) standing up front by the counter and kitchen doing absolutely nothing. I’m honestly shocked that in the 1.5 hrs we were there, not a single server during that ENTIRE 1.5 hours had visited our table to give an update on our food, check in on us, or even refilled our tiny cups of water??? We had to flag down a waitress to ask for a refill. It hit about 8:45 pm and we were very fed up so we once again flagged down a waitress to complain, and as we started to tell them it’s been taking so long the waitress (who was not our original one) immediately told us one of our dishes we ordered in the beginning (bun oc) was out and that they were slow to get our order bc somehow they lost the food ticket with everything written on it. Unbelievable. At what point was anyone in this restaurant going to tell us that they were out of bun oc or ask us again for our orders if they supposedly “lost the ticket”? Were we going to get through 6/7 dishes sitting until 11pm for them to say, sorry you’re not getting that one? That literally goes beyond minor overlooking, it’s actually aggressively incompetent. So after another 15 minutes after that with still no food, we decided we had enough and told them we didn’t want any of the rest of the food and would only pay for what was served to us. It is beyond inexcusable to have service so bad. The dishes themselves were good, but even in like a year’s time i can’t imagine that level of incompetence improving. Even though I enjoyed the food, for the prices we were paying to receive that service i’m never returning and highly do not recommend visiting anytime in the next few months unless they have drastic overhaul in how...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on a Saturday night with my family, and I can’t say I was impressed. From start to finish, it felt like everything went wrong, and there’s really no reason I’d return.
To begin with, the water situation was downright frustrating. The cups they serve water in are ridiculously small—barely bigger than the palm of your hand. If they insist on using these tiny cups, they should at least provide a pitcher at each table. But no, we had to repeatedly call over a server just to get refills. And that’s not even the worst of it.
The chopsticks were a disaster. I’ve never seen such thick, uncomfortable chopsticks in my life. Typically, chopsticks have a slim end for eating and a thicker end for holding, but these felt like tree branches. They were so awkward to use that they were practically useless. On top of that, they were made of wood, which is not only unhygienic but prone to mold and bacteria.
The food was equally underwhelming. While the presentation may have been decent, the taste didn’t match up. Every dish felt average at best—nothing special that would make me want to return. It just didn’t stand out in any meaningful way.
As for the atmosphere, it was uncomfortable and lacking in basic standards. The tables were large, but my chair was too small and lacked a backrest. In fact, I spent the entire meal sitting on a stool, which made it impossible to enjoy my time. If I’m paying for a meal at a restaurant, I expect a certain level of comfort, and this place completely missed the mark.
Finally, the service was frustrating and unprofessional. After ordering a few dishes, we wanted to try a couple more, but when we called over our server, they responded with, “Let me ask if you can order more.” At no point should a customer be made to feel like their request is an inconvenience, especially after we had already placed a full order. It’s little things like this that really show the lack of experience and poor training on the staff’s part.
Overall, this restaurant was a disappointment in every aspect—poor service, uncomfortable seating, and lackluster food. Save your time and money, and go...
Read moreWas excited to try this place thinking it would be good, like houston or cali, but I'm super disappointed! Overcharge dishes with small portions. Sauces were too salty for dipping, and the goi (salad) is too hard to chew, not crunchy. The bread is small and stale, not even warm and crunchy to dip. The egg rolls are expensive and not even 1 complete roll only 9 pieces so did someone ate 1?? Lmaoo Even though workers were nice and sweet but lacking service due to no plates or sauces provided and we had to ask but the food was already brought out to the table after 40mins wait. PLEASE CHECK YOUR "BILL" when u pay at the register. The lady there looks like trying to overcharge, adding items you didn't order to your bill had to question why it doesnt look like the food we order and the lady laughed as if she knows or did it purposely instead off apologizing. Read other comments, and it seems like they have been doing this a lot, so DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE PAYING!! You will end up paying for more items than you think lmaooo IF they are continuously cheating customers on our bill, we need to report fraud/scam on this business!!! Overpriced plus cheating is not good service/people to be doing business. They need to give customer their bill to read and a receipt going forward if they wanna keep their business, or else we will start reporting for scamming peep. Not...
