Soulmans on the corner of Broadway and Colonel in Garland has be my favorite quick stop for BBQ. Today my wife and I decided to take some carryout to our son's house. I ordered 2 pounds of sliced beef, a quart of potato salad, a few onions and pickles and of course a container of sauce. The order came to $53.00 and some change. I said oh, by the way can I get 4 buns to go with this. The cashier explained that the buns would be another $1.00. Now I can afford a dollar but I took and exception to being charged extra for them with the large order we were getting ready to pay for. She said that the charge was the policy of the store. I suggested she check with her manager, and he confirmed he couldn't do anything about the extra charge. He said it was store policy. Now I can go to Spring Creek BBQ and they will keep you covered up with hot rolls, but I didn't go there. Just saying. Well I told them they could keep their $53's worth of BBQ and ended up to going to Dickey's as it was on the way to my Son's house. I got 2 pounds of sliced beef, a pound of jalapeno cheddar cheese sausage, two sub buns and two regulair buns. The total was $51 and some change. Obvious to say Soul mans has been marked off our go to list. I met the owner of Soulman's one time. He was a good friend of a friend of ours that his son had died. He is a real nice guy and had brought breakfast over that morning for the family and guest that were in mourning. I have always been one of the first to eat at a Soulman's BBQ because of that one kind experience we shared with my grieving friend. By the way I have never gotten a bad meal at Soulman's. The food there is great. It's just their bread is...
Read moreIt's to the point I have to make a review.. My family have been going here for years, & for some reason we always have an issue with the employee handling the meat cutting. We always order a slab of ribs,& the butcher wants to cut the end pieces off & not include them in our order, so we brought it to the managers' attention once,& now it's as if they intentionally do it, ("rip off"),& the employee handling the food doesn't even wear gloves. Also I noticed how the cashier is cross contaminating germs from handling money to helping with food & I didn't see her wash her hands even once. ..Not wanting to mention, but I agree with another reviewer on this subject, yes I've dealt with a little prejudice here as well,& that's the most sad & most ridiculous issue above all. I don't understand how people can have so much hatred & jealousy in one's heart against another person whether it's because of their race, social or financial status, or religion, etc (especially when the person have done nothing to you at all) .. IT'S ALL RIDICULOUS !!! 👎..I hope great change comes about with this place & these issues can be resolved so that "ALL" customers can continue to enjoy great food & dining with their families, but in a clean, sanitary, & welcoming environment. I noticed a bible scripture on the wall, so someone who established it was a person of faith, & I hope & believe that they would have wanted everyone to be treated as you would want to be...
Read moreI placed an order over the phone on 4/15/22 for several sandwiches, fries, and drinks. I was told 15 minutes so I arrived and paid for my order and waited. As I was waiting I was not impressed with the person doing the meat she was extremely slow and as she was placing the meat on sandwiches she started working the line with other customers which was no issue until she started being rude to the cashier that was trying to finish putting my order together with no help. The girl doing the meat then pretty much push the cashier out the way and finish packing up my order shoving all the fries in one bag she might have just pour the basket in the bag since the several orders of fries ended up that way. Then she told the cashier rudely to stay at register. I will say the cashier was doing her best to handle my order first since I was there and already paid for it where as the lady doing the meat kept putting the line customers a head of me. I give the cashier great praise for handling the rudeness of the other. I won’t go back there since I do not appreciate seeing employees especially young people be treated poorly in front of customers by other employees which I took as someone in charge such disrespect to employee and customers and totally unprofessional. This place was much better under the other manager. Good luck with business at...
