Sweet Pearl's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Garland

I visited this ice cream shop on Friday, 08/01, around 9 PM, hoping for a fun outing with my daughter. Unfortunately, we left feeling hurt and uncomfortable.

While we were browsing the menu, a blonde, blue-eyed employee approached us and said something along the lines of, “How can I help you?… Yeah, how can I help you!” in an extremely rude and condescending tone. We hadn’t even spoken yet. As a Hispanic family, this interaction immediately raised concerns that we were being treated differently because of our ethnicity. Nothing about our behavior warranted that tone, and it completely soured what should have been a simple, joyful visit.

Thankfully, another employee who helped finish our order was polite and respectful, which we appreciated. However, the damage had been done. What should have been a happy memory with our daughter turned into something stressful and disheartening.

I don’t know whether the first employee’s behavior was racially motivated, but sadly, that’s how it felt. Regardless of the intent, no one should feel unwelcome or mistreated, especially not in front of their child. We won’t be returning nor recommending this place, and I sincerely hope this business takes a hard look at how all customers are...

This place has character and is fun to walk into. From the post it's to the awesome wall, it makes you smile and laugh. The ice cream flavor are diverse and... delicious. I sampled so many different flavors and they were all so good it was extremely hard to narrow down which flavor I wanted in the end. I've been to numerous ice cream places here in the DFW and this place.... They have numerous superb and unique flavor profiles of ice cream. I think it's THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WHOLE DFW. there is a salty caramel flavor that is to die for. I haven't had good salty caramel since I was in college 20 years ago in Madison, Wisconsin. There were nutty flavors, fruity flavors, and chocolate flavors that I didn't even get to try. The waffle cones are homemade and taste delicious. There are toppings as well to choose from. It was just a spectacular cone. The waffle cones have a plastic sleeve they give you so if the ice cream spills it doesn't spill all over your hand, which is also really nice. This ice cream shop was so cute for my taste!(I love pink and pastel colors) The logo was so ADORABLE, as a graphic designer I like how the logo goes with all the aesthetic of the shop. The ice cream flavors are unique, it does have some common usual flavors like pecan or chocolate chip cookie dough but other than that it has varies options and the owner is kind to give us free samples to make sure we pick the right flavor for our stomach to be satisfied 😌. I really like the Ube flavor and mango with a fancy word I forgot🤦‍♀️on a waffle taco with vary of toppings. Recommend this place for dates with your partner or friends! Keep in mind there's limited tables but that shouldn't stop you to try out some...
