Total Review 4.2/5
CLIFF NOTES REVIEW: the taste of food was overall good but they recently increased their prices. We paid $78 (including tip) for 3 entrees and drinks. Grossly overpriced for the quantity of food served.
Here’s what we got
Huevos Rancheros Con Carne ($16) - Rating 4/5 The quantity on this dish was decent but the meat and sauce was a bit under seasoned. After my wife added some hot sauce and salt, the taste of the dish was elevated. The side of potatoes were good.
Mexican Eggs Benedict ($15) - Rating 4.6/5 The dish was good without adding anything extra to it. The chorizo was seasoned well, eggs cooked well and sauce was good. The side was hash brown. Taste was good, quantity was less.
2x2 x2 (Waffle, Scrambled eggs and Bacon $13) - Rating 4.4/5 The waffle was decently sized, plenty of syrup that wasn’t overly sweet. Included a dollop of butter and cream. The quantity of scrambled eggs were very small and the two strips of bacon were regular size and cooked to a crisp.
Drinks: I was tad disappointed with the pricing on the drinks. I have never paid $5 for a cup of coffee or $4 for OJ/AJ at a cafe. Management needs to look into this before you start losing customers. The mex hot chocolate was $6. A total of $18 for drinks is a tad outrageous IMO.
The service was good and our server made sure we had everything we needed and refilled coffee whenever needed. They even provided heavy cream for coffee when requested. Good dining experience.
Apart from the outrageous pricing on items, I’d say it was good food. Not a place we would come back to as regulars...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped by Tanya's Cafe for lunch last week and I was pleasantly surprised with the food, really delicious.
The location is small, they tried to make the most of their small space with taller tables and if you low top options. There was a pop of color in the tile they selected for the bar but other than that it was pretty bland decor-wise. The sign is coming down outside, I'm guessing it is just a temporary one.
The server was friendly and was quickly attentive to us. I ordered the Mexican Divorced eggs, came out with a huge portion. My friend ordered the eggs benedict and a side of fruit. It was chopped chips mixed with a red sauce and the other side was a green sauce and came with eggs, beans and potatoes. The potatoes were the highlight of the meal, they were delicious! They could have done with smaller portions of the chips for better distribution of the eggs.
They also offered a variety of juices for those that are interested in that.
Overall, great experience. Offering breakfast items I would definitely suggest them branching out into mimosas for the full brunch experience, perhaps new...
Read moreThe juice was fresh made to order and was excellent! We ordered the Chilaquiles verdes and eggs. The tortillas strips were super dry and overcooked... ordered some more peruvian beans to counteract the dryness of the corn tortilla strips. The salsa was I think cooked with the strips and it would have been better to just have the salsa raw on top as the dish did not have much flavor... The dish would be tastier if it had fresher ingredients on top, like cilantro and onions and the fresh salsa...The egg was super cooked and was overly dry....We usually eat raw food only so we will stick with the fresh juices and a fruit cup and a salads instead... The Service was excellent...everyone working there was friendly and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was excellent...The place is lovingly decorated with lovely mexican tiles and beautiful clay type floor...the fresh air coming in was excellent, but when the front entrance door was closed, the cooking fumes got a little strong...Luckily they have a wonderful seating area outside...The music was perfectly chosen as it was peaceful and felt in tune with a...
