Yen China Cafe — Restaurant in Garland

My lunch dinning experience on March 02, 2020 at Yen China Cafe located at 1225 Beltline, Garland, TX I admit, I'm critical when it comes to finding a good lunch spot for really good Chinese food. Most fall short, and we usually end up starting the search all over again. Well the search has stopped. Yen China Cafe on 1225 Beltline Rd, Garland, TX checks off all the boxes. We saw the reviews as 4.6 which is pretty darn close to a 5 star. The reviews talked about the good food and good prices, and great service, but I wasn't convinced. After all, it's in an older shopping center retail space. So we decided to wait it out. We sat in the parking lot and watched to see if anyone drove up at 11:00am, when they opened. WOW! Several Vehicles started forming in front of the restaurant and people quickly getting out of their vehicles and going in. Hmmm, Okay that's impressive. They clearly already knew something about this place. We decided to go in and give it a try. YUM! DELICIOUS! EXCELLENT! OUTSTANDING! Fast, Excellent Quality Freshly made Chinese Food. The owner was very attentive. (VERY ATTENTIVE). We walked in, and from there we were treated like royalty. The price for lunch was excellent! The lunch portions are RIDICULOUSLY LARGE. We ordered Szechuan Beef, Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Roll, Steamed Dumplings (filled with chicken). It was all Soooo SERIOUSLY GOOD! TASTE BUDS GOING CRAZY GOOD!! (We didn't leave hungry, that's for sure). Service was GREAT! Overall Experience was OUTSTANDING!!! Food :Excellent, Price :Excellent, Service: Excellent, (Atmosphere:... well, it's just a little retail space in an older shopping center, so if you're looking for a "elegant, crystal chandelier with valet, sort of place, then maybe it's not the place for you. But, if you're looking for a place with Fantastic Chinese Food for Lunch(or dinner) , that has Excellent Quality Food, Excellent Service, Great Prices, and Large Portions, then this place should fulfill your wish list for Chinese food, I'm so glad I found it. I picked up some of my go to items to “test”/try out a new Chinese food. I was really impressed!!! I’ll be back for sure. Got my items to go, was impressed by the staff I worked with when I called and picked up. Happy with this experience from the moment the phone was picked up to the last bite I put in my mouth! I got hot and sour soup which was so good!! I got some low main-correct noodles were used (I have been SO disappointed in this area with this dish-time and time again!!! I am so happy to have found a version I can eat again!!!!) and the lemon chicken. I will ask for no breading next time I think, that’s not the way I am used to eating it growing up, but it’s such a treat to find this dish! I would happily eat it with breading again to be able to eat it again!!!

Very happy with this new to me find!!!! I grew up having a couple of China towns to choose from, so me happy with a Chinese restaurant in DFW means so much to me!! Thank you for the kind and professional young man who I worked with, and the chefs for rocking it!!

I absolutely love this place, however, You used to get a crazy amount of food for great prices and all of a sudden the prices of shot up and the containers have gotten incredibly smaller! So now we get less food and everything‘s gone up between 2 to 4 dollars per item!!! Extremely extremely extremely disappointing. I guess it’s changed hands to a younger owner and this is what younger people usually do give you less food and jack the price up. This is how restaurants get run into the ground and close. I know I’mNot the only one who has noticed this!!!!! And actually when I got my food the other day it was cold, which was shocking I had just ordered it and was there within five minutes. It’s just a really huge disappointment because I’ve been going here for years, Someone always has to ruin it!
