Simply stated, the new standard for breakfast. I bet lunch and dinner are just as awesome. Tasty is worlds ahead of other places to dine. Before I write about the food, sit down and look around the place. You can sense this place is special. A lot of thought, and I bet love, has gone into bringing Tasty to life. The dining room has the correct balance of hard and soft surfaces so that sounds don't bounce around and distract from your experience. Notice the flatware. Nice feel, good weight. Not flimsy. Not the typical flatware you find in restaurants in this price range. Much nicer. Look, hold the coffee cups. Very nice also. Then look at the bottom to see the manufacturer. They didn't come from a food service distributor. Same with all of the dishes. It's obvious that the owner really put a lot of thought into everything about the great experience you would have at Tasty. Went to several different places just to set the right ambiance, all the way to the smallest details such as the flatware. Ahnna, our server, is very pleasant, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and a joy to have a conversation with. The wife and I were having a slow start to the morning and Ahnna recommended we each start with an Americano. Perfect start to the day. Great tasting. Bold without being bitter but smooth. Where did they get these incredible beans. I'll let the wait staff tell you about the discovery of the grower/processor/roaster. There is a very local and international connection. You can purchase the coffee whole bean or ground. I think you will want a bag or two for yourself or to give to others. Let's get to the food. One word, Outstanding! Usually the better something is, less words are needed for the description. Certainly true here. Wife had the Farm Omelette. A truly delicious combination of fresh peggs, spinach, red peppers (the wife asked to not include the red peppers), red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, mozzarella and zucchini. The portions of each ingredient were perfect. You can taste every nuance of the flavors. The right amount of cheese so as not to drown out the flavors of the other ingredients. And the most perfectly browned omelette to grace your plate and palette. We have a rule that we do not bring our cellphones to the dining table so I don't have a photo of the omelette to share. Suffice to say this must be the perfect omelette. Tip of the togue to the chef. I had the French Toast. Equally as impressive as the Farm Omelette. Fluffy, light, buttery. A pleasure. I implore you to enjoy Tasty. This is a dining experience that will quickly become your 'go-to' place. The cocktail list is impressive. Go imbibe. Everyone in the Gastonia area owes it to themselves to enjoy the offerings at Tasty. Incredible tasting food, great staff, wonderful attention to detail. Why are you still reading this review and not headed there right now? They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner! There are also vegan options. Let's go. Getta...
Read moreOverall I liked this place and will probably come back, but they have some things to work on. I debated whether to rate this a 3 or 4, but overall I liked it. My party would probably give it a 2 or 3.
The place had an awesome decor. Very classy and warm. The bar looks overly large, but I'm not a bar person, so what do I know. Place was a little less then half full. We waited for what seemed a long time to ask what we wanted to drink as several writers passed by and ignored us. Even of a wait that we debated what to get for the meal for awhile. 2 people decided on an item that was not available, so that was frustrating. They don't have regular sodas/drinks, and what they do have for drinks is expensive IMO. $4 for a cup of sweet tea.
The food came out and looked good. One person got their meal 5 minutes before the rest. I got the big burger and I thought it was pretty good. The meat was overcooked, but all the other flavors from the ingredients were tasty lol. Another one got the burger and was upset because they did not disclose the condiments on the menu and they didn't like either of them (mayo and ketchup). One got a spicy chicken sandwich that they said was not spicy at all. Another got salmon that they said had no sauce and tasted plain. Most got sides of fries- they had good flavor but were soft and not a good texture. One got a mac and cheese side and it was delicious.
The server got one person one drink refill and that was it. Mostly they were somewhere else. At the end of the meal, we sat around for awhile waiting for the check or something. I spotted the server sitting at the bar playing on their phone and I just casually stared over until they realized somebody needed something lol. Place was a little expensive for what it was. They do have a wide variety of items, maybe I will try for...
Read moreSo today we decided to try this place for breakfast. VERY DISAPPOINTING. The server was young and pleasant but couldn’t remember the simple things. My husband ordered an orange juice. It came as an orange drink. We expected regular orange juice. We both ordered the southern breakfast. The eggs were dry, cold and part green from being in a serving pan. The eggs were minced and chopped to try breaking them up. The toast (1 slice) was barely a toast in it. I originally asked for well toasted. As she brought it, I asked for her to please toast it dark. The “hash browns” were the ore rida tiny, squared potatoes that were fried. The new toast piece was identical to the piece sitting on the plate. Barely popped down in the toaster, cold and chewy. The two slices of bacon were the only properly cooked item. We looked at the plates like wow….this is awful. We barely ate a thing. The bill with two coffees, the juice drink and two plates were $39. Horrible. Tipped appropriately as it’s not the server’s fault for the low quality of the food. Famous Toastery or a chain would be much better worth your time and money. We left hungry and annoyed. It was an unfortunate experience. We always try to support local. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Wish we...
