As for the atmosphere, it's a Waffle House, not a fine establishment. So, did I get what I paid for, probably. I ordered a waffle and 2 eggs over medium. No toast or grits or hash browns. I used to be a cook, so if I got an order like that, I would presume that maybe the customer wanted them at the same time. 95% of most restaurants would have your order come to you all at once. They were cooking my eggs before they even put the waffle batter in the pan. Then the cook, not the waitress, placed my eggs on my table and said the waffle would be out in a minute. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know I wanted to put my eggs on the waffle and eat them together, but even so, who wants to eat half there food and then wait another 5 minutes to eat the other half. Not I. Because the waffle did take another 3 minutes. Then that cook took 2 minutes trying on several pairs of server gloves before placing the waffle on a plate, then placed it on the cook counter and walking off to start cooking hash browns for someone else's order. I had to catch the waitress and ask if I was going to get my waffle before the day's end. At this, they both, waitress and cook, looked at me like I was being a pain. I wonder why I take years between visits to a Waffle House. I believe it's because I forget how bad it is and it starts to seem like a good idea. I'm 65. I don't think it will seem like a good idea again before I'm no longer of this world. Adios...
Read moreI love waffle house. I generally go to waffle houses when I travel. There's been a couple of times when things didn't go as well as they could. But nothing like today. However, today tops it all. My sister and I went to this waffle house mostly as a visit as well as for breakfast because it's the store we used to visit often. We knew most of the staff and it was like Norm going to Cheers. The waitress that we had today had no personality. Ok, it wasn't overly crowded and staff was adequate. No hello, just "do you know what you want to order?" Well, she could have had a off day. But here's where it gets real. So we asked for hot tea, got flatware, no spoons. My sister received no butter for her grits. Not a totally bad thing but she didn't ask or came back to see if everything was OK. We finally got the attention of another staff member to give my sister butter and spoons. My eggs wasn't cooked as asked and I never got the waffle. She never came back until she brought the ticket. When i ask to remove the waffle since i never got it, there was no "oh, im sorry or can we get that for you to take home? Nothing. At that time some man came in with a bag and he handed the bag to that waitress right over our booth while we were eating. At that time we got up and left. So we will not be visiting there again. I didn't enjoy my food or service today. Going back to Bessemer City. Shout out to Carlos and staff. You guys rock. Service and food...
Read moreLet me tell you a little something about this Waffle House right here, best one in gaston county. Came in after a night of tossing and turning at 3AM! A few City of Gastonia PD men and one other gentlemen had HALIE (our server) running around, but still had time to not only take my order BUT also cook it. Iv seen this done before but never in the productivity that she had and never for over an hour, maybe a cooks smoke or bathroom break. She was taking calls (yeah, at 3am) and cooking and cleaning. All by herself. Don’t really know where the other person working was, but I did park next to a running car with someone sleeping in it with all of the coolant running out and the battery about dying. After I finished my meal she said she felt bad for making me wait, but I was proud of her hustle, for only being with the company for a week, she really picked things up super fast. This gave me hope for America, where hard work really does pay off left her a tip and will for sure will be returning....
