Viva Chicken — Restaurant in Gastonia

This was an interesting case of someone not paying attention to the orders.

I went to VC recently to give it a try. Its chicken, rotisserie, and someplace new. I just haven't taken the time to drop by and see what the menu is like. Well, now I know... Other customers will take your food.

When I ordered I noticed other people standing around waiting, so I walked to stand behind them. A name that I thought was mine was called. A lady ran up, grabbed the bag from the server and took off like a shot.. I shrugged it off, thinking I misunderstood. The server that was calling names out for ready orders had a low register so it was a little difficult for me to understand. A few minutes later a name that sounds vaguely like mine was called. I took the bag offered and left.

When I get home, I found a lot of food. Granted this is my first experience with Peruvian food and I had told the cashier and thought for a moment that she was being nice. No.. I had someone else's order. While it was close to what I wanted, it wasn't my order. Since this has happened with othe restaurants particularly during Covid, I couldn't take the food back.

The chicken was good but the plantains were yuck. Its been years since I have eaten those and it wll be years again before I try them once more. These were hard fried and slightly greasy. I didn't try the rice bowl thing that was also in my bag, but there were refried beans in it so no. Don't want no bean that has to be cooked twice.

Sorry M lady...hope you liked the dark meat quarter..I can't blame the restaurant for the food mishap...The M lady was quick out of the gate...🏇

I will give this place another try when I can stay...

I ate at this chain once before at Concord Mills and did not like it. Chicken was too dry. We wanted a place to eat outside on a nice day and our first choice was too busy. So we decided to go here instead. The place is newish and has a very nice exterior and interior. Nice subdued color combo.

Not a fan of the menu placement. It is kinda centered on the restaurant and not on the line that you are standing in to order. If you get too close, you have to crane your neck sideways and up to see anything. And the metal corral that you are in, is hard to get out of. But got out of it I did, as I had to stand back (and in the middle) to see what I wanted to order. All the choices seemed to blend in my mind, so I picked something mildly interesting to me and went with it. Then I hard to maneuver neck next to my wife, as she had not left her spot so we could order.

We sat down to wait after ordering. The only table available outside was very wobbly, so we had to fiddle with it to get it less so. We waited about 5 minutes for our food to be ready.

The food was excellent. I got some rice and chicken bowl, and with added sauce, it was very tasty. My wife got some soup and it was even better than mine. Lots of varied flavor. I'm glad we went to this chain again. I look forward to coming back and trying something else randomly picked...

I had a great experience working with Yoshi. I was having a small get together at home with family. I was following COVID social distancing practices. Yoshi helped me pull it together with choosing individual boxed lunches with sauces on the side in their own containers to supplying individual packaged utensils. He offered a choice to deliver or self pick-up. Gave me a very reasonable price, very affordable. I received a text about 15 mins prior to my pick up time that food was almost ready. When we arrived at store we just gave them a call and everything was brought curb side. Very pleasant young lady who brought food out. Very fast and efficient. Each meal was clearly marked on boxes. Plenty of sauces bagged nicely. We didn’t eat for another 45 mins after picking up food but it was all warm and delicious! I ordered the Tacu Bowl plus chicken. Very good. Everyone had a side of chaufa rice and really enjoyed it. The 3 Rotisserie chicken kids meals came with their own beverages which was nice. The serving of chicken in the kids meals was more than adequate and very good. We were celebrating a birthday and successful passing of NC state boards test for Dental Hygienist. VivaChicken was a great choice for us! Definitely recommend them. And will use them again. A shout-out to Yoshi for great customer service and...
