The Feed Mill is a small town restaurant that is bursting with small town charm and hospitality! This is by far one of the best experiences for me in some time. I had the rib eye, which was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. It was paired with asparagus and fried okra. The asparagus was seasoned just right and cooked to a perfectly crisp texture. The okra was lightly breaded with a soft crispsness, but not oily. My spouse had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and a house salad. The chicken fried steak was so tender that a knife was not needed. Also, the breading was light and cooked to perfection. The potatoes were very rich and seasoned well. The salad was crisp and fresh. It was paired with a house made honey mustard that was very delicious. We ordered to go 3 desserts and some beets that we wanted to try at a later time. We sampled all of the house made desserts after our 45-minute drive home. Desserts were the Blackberry cobble, salted caramel cheese cake, and cherry dump cake. All 3 were incredible, but the one that won us both over was the cherry dump cake. I'm not a huge fan of cherry desserts because of them either being too tart or overly sweetened, and this one was perfection. I do like beets but find them hard to eat at times because of the taste. The pickled beets were very delicious and are so healthy for you. We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Thank you so much for such an incredible dinner...

My family enjoys coming from Eddy yo the drive ins and we never know where to eat. Typically we just eat at home or grab drive thru in Gatesville. But I told.my wife lets try some of there local foods out since Im a big fan of supporting locals. ESPECIALLY FOOD!! Lol. Atmosphere was nice and made you fell like you could just be there for hours and not feel rushed with plenty of seating. Waiters were nice too. Even the ones that didn't serve us. Ours was a good waiter and didn't even get annoyed by all my question regarding how much food comes with this or that meal.lol Ill be sending people here for sure and inviting them to this...
Read moreStopped in a drive home after a weekend camping. Wanted a burger and this was one of the highest rated places in town. It was very busy on a Sunday after church but we were seated immediately and our drinks were brought quickly.
It took about 10 minutes for them to take our order but they stopped by a couple of time to apologize for the delay. As I said, it was after church and it looked like several tables came in at once.
Once we ordered our food was delivered quickly. We had standard cheese burgers and onion rings. The burgers were perfectly cooked and seasoned! The onion rings were hand cut and battered. Everything was delicious.
Before leaving, we chatted with owner about the history of the building. She said almost everything is made homemade, meat is ground in house in for the burgers, and steaks are cut in house.
Overall, this was a great stop. After many trips thru Gatesville, we never knew this was here. We will...
