El Trio Loco
3615 US-101, Gearhart, OR 97138
In visiting Gearhart for the weeknd, last month, this place was a definite find!
Dealing with inconveniences and frustrations of current times the efficiency and welcoming
staff brought pleasure to the end of a long day, not to mention the excellent food!
The tastes and textures of Mexican cuisine that is prepared to order and with pride not only in
presentation but in providing freshness and appeal (not easy with current take-out limitations).
We ordered the Appetizer Trio Loco 2 with Chicken Quesadilla, Taquitos Ranchero and Chimichanga.
This combo came with fries (maybe a bit odd, but a hit with kids), sour cream and guac. We were amazed
at the overall portion size being way more than expected for the price and should be taken into account
as fairly filling for two. In addition to the appetizer we enjoyed the Chicken en Mole which featured strips
of tender chicken breasts in a well balanced Mole of peppers and spices in addition to a
Chicken Enchilada/Taco combination plate. The Mole was accompanied with soft tortillas, beans and rice
as was the combination plate. Again portions are far more than adequate for the price and quality/taste

Read moreWe all have heard of such places as this, from friends, relatives"A whole in the wall" This is such a place indeed. A dear friend came to visit us from out off town. When we asked her what sounded it good for dinner, she mention she craved for a margarita, we knew exactly where to take her. The crew here was very welcoming, their service was right on. Our guest was very excited of her margarita. She wish she could have had a second one. As for the food, it arrived within a vey reasonable time. However, their tortillas, well ? They were awesome, we order a second order. Their guacamole was so buttery and so very fresh. This place, " El Trio Loco " has indeed become our favorite place to bring our guest, when they visit us, as well as ours, when we think of margaritas. This is that whole in the wall that you will find us enjoying a delicious meal, great tasting food, awesome service and a fine, fine margarita. We so look forward to our next visit here. Oh my goodness the weekend is almost here, we just might see you here...
Read moreIf you are a service memeber looking to recreate the fabulous and awful Mexican food experience from Afghanistan and Iraq I strongly recommend this place! I really think this also falls behind the Chicken and Salsa MRE. Another great idea would be getting a large group together and eating here before going to the beach to laugh and see who runs back to the bathroom first! We had the kids with us and their idea of a kids quesadilla was two tortillas with a glob of cheese. It tasted much like what i assume Spanish-made drywall would taste. The beans more than likely could have been used as backup grout if you are in the area and want to do any tile work. The portly waitress brought me the wrong food and laughed when she dropped the silverware on one of the kids. All in all this is a perfect example that Mexican food restaurants can survive in tourist traps much like cockroaches. Great place to take in-laws, soon to be ex girlfriends,...
