’Ive been going to Los Ranchos in Jenison for years, and it used to be my favorite go-to Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, over time, I’ve noticed a decline in quality, and it saddens me to say this after having loved and supported the business for so long.
A few months ago, Los Ranchos announced new management with signs prominently displayed at the restaurant. Initially, I was hopeful that the changes would bring improvements. However, it quickly became apparent that these changes have made the restaurant a place I no longer want to support. The new management seems out of touch with customer needs, and the experience has been marred by rude staff, significant price increases, and a lack of coordination among employees.
If you’re considering dining at or ordering from Los Ranchos, I would advise you to think twice and explore other Mexican restaurants in the area. One particularly troubling issue involves their takeout pricing. Recently, I placed a takeout order after reviewing their menu and daily specials on their website. When I arrived to pick up my order, the total was $4 higher than the price listed online.
When I questioned the price, the worker simply stated that they had a new menu and couldn’t honor the prices on their own website. The worker’s attitude was dismissive, even laughing at my refusal to pay the extra charge. I then asked to speak with a manager, who was even more disrespectful. Instead of addressing the issue, he blamed me for relying on their outdated website and went so far as to call my complaint “bullshit.”
I reminded the manager that under U.S. law (Act 15), businesses are required to honor the prices they advertise to the public, even if their website hasn’t been updated. It shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility to verify that the business is adhering to these laws before placing an order.
This experience left me feeling scammed and disrespected. Whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout, be cautious—this restaurant seems more focused on squeezing extra money out of customers than providing a quality...
Read moreWe have eaten here twice the first time was 2 weeks ago, there was a very large crowd waiting so we figured the food would be good after an hour I went to check with the hostess to see where we were on the list and it turns out that someone had crossed our name out! They made up for this and seated us right away overall the resturant was not that clean the staff was not knowledgeable about gluten free products that they claim to have offered and the service was slow however I gave them a 2 because the value of the food was very good we got out of there the two of us for less than $20. We went there again today later in the evening so we wouldn't have such a wait and we got seated right away however it took a very long time for the waitress to come snd greet us and take our drink order, it took even longer for us to get the free chips and salsa the restaurant was again very dirty the service again very slow as a matter of fact my food was warm when it arrived not hot like if you just been freshly prepared again no knowledge of gluten free and you could see traces of lettuce in the chips and cheese that my wife had ordered which leads me to believe they probably have a lot of cross-contamination if you are celiac gluten free I'm not sure that would recommend this place however I will say so far my wife has had no reaction to the food. Unfortunately due to the slow service and the cleanliness of both the general restaurant and the restroom I do not feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to anyone....
Read moreWe went to Los Ranchos for the first and last time today. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. My husband ordered the lunch steak fajitas ($8.99). Mine and my son's orders were wrong. We said something about my meal being wrong, and they brought out new food to me after about 15 minutes. Our server was not easy to find/flag down, and we had to wait for a long time after we finished eating to get our check. When we finally received the check, we noticed that my husband was charged for Texas fajitas ($17.99). The Texas fajitas have steak, chicken, and shrimp. This is not what my husband ordered or what he received. The server was adamant that he ordered the Texas fajitas. He eventually corrected the bill, but not without me being persistent that he, in fact, ordered and received the lunch steak fajitas. We were incredibly patient during our time in the restaurant, despite the fact that we encountered a number of issues (slow service, not having silverware until 5 minutes after our food arrived at the table, my husband having to wait 10 minutes after receiving his fajitas to get the tortillas that came with them, and not getting the refills we requested). We will not be returning due to the poor service we...
