To sum up: a lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is eclectic; a wonderful mix of a child’s wonderland, a 1990’s film set, and, reminiscently, my own childhood home. The food is scrumptious. One bite of sesame chicken and I fell in love. During my studies I travelled through many Asian countries and while the entrees were delectable, they could not hold a candle to this Americanized comfort food. Longing for more, I was advised by the pretty young thing behind the counter to try the cashew chicken. The way the sauce mingled with the rice sent shivers down my spine. Thrilling. This is not to mention the staff. The restaurant employs local high schoolers, and to my delight, they were very polite and easy on the eyes. I don’t usually have much patience for teens, but they turned my expectations around. I’m thinking about applying for a job just to spend more time with them. Needless to say, I left a hardy tip. This restaurant is highly recommended, and a good reminder that the first glance is not always...
Read moreFood is okay, but not much different then you get at a food court chinese place. You do have to be clear when asking questions though. The last time I went here I asked if they had a dinner deal with just one entree because I didn't want two entrees and didn't need that much food. When I got my food and was charged the 2 entree price she then told me they didn't do one with just one, I had double of same entree. When I told her I didn't want that much food she simply shrugged and told me "oh well, you'll just have leftovers". Power was out at my house and not expected to come on for a couple days so thanks to their incompetence I was stuck with extra food to throw out and a bigger check than expected. I personally don't plan on coming back. The service definitely has room for improvement and even though they have tables the few times I have been here I feel encouraged to take...
Read moreIt's not authentic Chinese food, but it's freshly stir fried to order and it hits the spot. The chef accommodates most requests really well, which I truly appreciate! I've had the Beef Lo Mein, Crab Rangoons and Pork Dumplings (both ways, steamed and fried). All of which, I recommend. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken, but was disappointed because he wanted the veggies and pineapple typically associated with S&W Chicken. It was just the breaded and fried chicken with S&W sauce on the side. My younger brother has really enjoyed the General Tso's Chicken and continues to order it every time. My mom loves the shrimp lo mein and continues to order that...she mentioned they do give a decent amount of shrimp. I'm so glad Jenison has this place and has supported it...
