The good: absolutely DELICIOUS food. I’d go back any time for their fries alone, seriously tasty.
The not-so-good: if you need to communicate with them regarding anything outside of what to order while you’re sitting at a table, good luck. We asked while we were there to speak with the owner or manager regarding a special request for a large-ish party a couple months later and watched our server walk over to the owner and he waved her away while he sat at the bar on his laptop (probably responding rudely to all of the similar reviews on his bad attitude). She proceeded to write down their generic business email and said it would be best to reach out that way.. so we did. And there was no response until we messaged again a few weeks later, when we were told basically “no thanks, but come back sometime for drinks!” It just felt unprofessional and honestly rude. We love supporting small businesses and really enjoyed our first dine in experience there, but all of this could have been avoided if he simply told us the very first time we asked - sorry, we can’t accommodate that size party, but hope you’ll return with smaller parties!
Communication is very important and hopefully the owner’s bad attitude and poor representation is not the downfall of this restaurant with good food and nice servers.
ETA: Oof… wish I could say I was surprised by your response. Again, we do love small businesses which is specifically why I said I HOPE yours thrives, despite your bad attitude. I utilize reviews very often, so I try to return the favor by putting my own experiences and honest opinion out there for others to form their own decision. This was in no way intended to bash your small business; on the contrary, just you (your staff and food are awesome!) Be blessed, I wish you well.
Ps I understand you would’ve been busy, so I will reiterate that it would’ve been much easier on everyone involved if you’d just communicated that to us earlier. I get that the email was somehow overlooked, so I highly recommend not giving that out in the future - unless you plan to alleviate the missed communications for other patrons somehow. No sweat though, we ended up finding somewhere else that was also incredible and had awesome communication! You did us a solid after all was said and...
Read moreSo we decided to go here because everyone in Jenison said it is the best.... Now they have been open now for quite awhile. I figured never to go to a new opening in my opinion due the fact EVERYTHING will be at it's best...
I give it 3 stars due to the fact, maybe we went when the beer choice's were not the best. Way heavy one the IPA's, super dometic beers, 7 or so of craft 5 were founder's. If you are an IPA lover or a domestic beer (aka) Bud, Miller, Coors, and ciders. They have one bells and that was just Oberon. I normally can Thefind something that I'd try.
The meal that I had along with my wife's meal we both ordered pulled pork sandwich which was a tangy barbecue sauce from the Carolinas. My ignorance not knowing that the BBQ sauce from Carolinas was mustard base. Based on that the sauce was WAY OVER THE TOP, couldn't taste the pork, the sandwich came with coleslaw and pickles on it (not on the side) and there was BBQ sauce on the top bun under the slaw and pickles. Like I said WAY OVER THE TOP (I added mayo to cut the mustard taste) sort of helped. Fries were over done and kinda soggy, seasoning was average.
The weight staff was great. When they brought out the sandwich my wife then found out it was mustard based the waitress knew she wasn't liking the sauce and she offered to get her something else, my wife said no, we don't like to inconvenience people because of our negligence of knowing what was barbecue sauce from the Carolinas.
In conclusion of this experience my suggestion is if you go to the win tavern 33, in Jenison Michigan I would do a search for their menu and make sure you understand everything that it is. If you do not like some flavors you may or may not like this restaurant. My opinion average food average price, beer selection not great, unless you like domestics, and IPA's. Now not saying that they won't change beer eventually. Doing a research...
Read moreThe food is fantastic. I've never had anything here that I didn't enjoy, and they come up with new goodies in weekly features (the J-Popper grilled cheese they had recently was incredible). The J-Popper, the Smoked Gouda Melt, and the Philly Grander are favorites in my family. Planning to try the Burnty Mac my next time in!
The service is always good and I haven't had any bad experiences with the staff. They're consistently friendly and accommodating. One of the few restaurants in Jenison where my wife and I don't get asked if the bill is separate or together, and that's always nice.
Unfortunately, Jenison isn't the most welcoming place to 2SLGBTQIA+ people, so they sometimes get customers that stare or make snide comments about the lesbian couple sitting nearby (my wife and I). It's certainly not going to discourage us from visiting the restaurant because the great food and friendly staff make up for the occasional bad customer that they can't do anything about. However, I still felt it was worth noting.
Edit to add this note based on the owner's comment: silence in the face of discrimination is passive acceptance of that discrimination. When we see/hear people making prejudicial remarks, our responsibility isn't to ignore that prejudice to make them happy, it's to stand up for the marginalized people that they are denigrating. Their prejudice creates a hostile environment for the people they're attacking, whose rights are often already being targeted by certain political groups. The hostile environment some of your customers create and the fact that those problematic customers are ignored, rather than addressed by the restaurant, is what dropped the rating...
