This place is AMAZING!!! The selection of different types of ramen is excellent. I have lived in Japan, have been back to visit many times, and am married to a Japanese. Everything from the texture of the noodles (perfect!) to the taste and feel of the broth (silky, smooth, and deeply flavorful) and the toppings... everything is spot on. We tried 3 different ramen bowls and each had a different broth, both in texture, flavor, and color. This is not a place that uses a single broth and then just changes up the toppings and calls it by a new name. No, each dish is truly unique and an experience in and of itself. The ramen eggs are done perfectly, the meats are tender and infused with flavor, the vegetables are fresh, and even the tofu on the vegetarian ramen tastes fresh an smooth!
We have been 3 times, and have had the tantanmen ramen, the spicy ramen, the shoyu ramen, and the vegetarian ramen. I plan to eat my way through every ramen on the menu!
Ramen bowls are priced affordably, from around $12 to $16. The bowls are deep and the servings of ramen, broth, and toppings are generous. Even my teenage son, who is a bottomless pit, was full after a single bowl.
The service and atmosphere is also wonderful! The servers are all friendly, professional, and the service is quick. I love how you can choose your ramen eating experience. Do you want to eat at the bar like a Japanese businessman, or would you rather gather with friends or family at a table and eat a more leisurely meal? Hokkaido Ramen House is set up for both. They also do take-out and have provided very thoughtful take out packaging to make the experience as wonderful as possible.
Hokkaido Ramen House also offers a variety of appetizers and a small dessert menu, in addition to bubble/boba tea. There really is something for everyone here! I am so excited to have such a wonderful place here in...
Read moreThe interior is absolutely stunning. Cozy, but not cramped (which is a hard line to toe, as someone who's worked in restaurants before) with beautiful decorations that added to the atmosphere without clogging it. Despite being fairly busy, my husband and I were seated almost immediately. The menus were clean (which is especially difficult to keep up with when it's busy), and laid out in a very easy to understand way, with gorgeous photos of what each meal includes. We started off getting the takoyaki as an appetizer, and even though I knew what I was getting, I did not expect it to be nearly as amazing as it was. I think the noise I made surprised a young lady who was preparing drinks. But wow, they were good! For our meal, my husband got a spicy beef ramen , and I got the vegetarian ramen (sans tomato, with an egg added). There was SO MUCH FOOD, I could barely make a dent in half of it! Bamboo perfectly cooked, mushrooms were firm, without being overly rubbery or mushy, the bean sprouts were likewise very light and crisp, and the tofu was soft with an almost sweetness that gentled the overall savory flavour of the broth
Service was irreproachable, with our server checking on us several times just to see if we needed anything- even bringing my husband a knife and fork when they noticed he was having some difficulty wrangling the large portions of bone-in meat that were included with his ramen.
We are -absolutely- going to be going back...
Read moreNew review I've given the restraunt another go, I enjoy how for the staff are and this time the ramen was absolutely wonderful. Thank you for a good experience. Old review I've been coming here with my family a few times a month and it became a common treat for our family. I have in the past recommended this restaurant as the best ramen in the area. The reason I'm leaving a middling review is because since last year a few things have changed between prices going up and quality. Today, I guess, is the straw that broke the camels back for me. The usual item I get is the tantanmen which was very different and not to the same quality or spice I've been receiving, I got a bite into it and just ceased eating. I am still very disappointed, what has been a comfort food and consistent has changed and I just couldn't get past it. The waitress offered to replace the ramen but everyone else at my table was done eating and there is no point in trying to get the same thing if it was already not right . I got some kind of garlic ramen as a replacement to go and paid for my order. I'm not really going to recommend this place anymore. but otherwise the waitresses are wonderful and the atmosphere is nice. Also enjoy a picture of the To go...
