Hotel staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast staff was excellent 👍 and very diligent.👌 On a whole our 5 day 4 night stay was a good experience even though there were a few work arounds that I'll explain in detail later in the post. Breakfast is the typical waffle, eggs, premade oatmeal (superb), continental... Be forewarned that a lot of mapping systems do not lead you to this hotel and it is difficult to find.
We booked a suite that was described as having a full kitchen. I feel the need to explain that this is actually a 'penthouse', which requires walking two half flights of stairs (15 stairs). There is a full size refrigerator, a stove/oven and a large microwave in the kitchen. However there was only a fry pan with a lid, three dinner plates, one small and one large bowl, and limited cooking/serving utensils. No glass wear or cups whatsoever were included. Cutlery was limited to one dull, large, steak knife; two forks; two spoons; and two butter knives. If you're used to a fully stocked condo this is not it. There was dish soap that someone may have previously left behind. There were no dish clothes or dish towels. When these were requested at the front desk they looked at us like we were crazy. They provided a microfiber cleaning cloth that was new and a hotel face towel to use as a dishtowel. We did manage to creatively cook meals with no real cooking equipment and clean the dishes without a dishwasher.😕
There's also a mini fridge and a mini microwave in the bedroom. The lights by the bed are off center and one needs tightened. The bedroom has a jetted tub, which was the second reason for booking this room. It is an older styled tub with almost unreachable jets unless you contort yourself beyond recognition while in the tub. There were extreme hot water issues in this unit (as in NONE during normal bathing hours), which also limited our use of the hot tub. Scenario follows:
Day one - Front night desk clerk was informed that there was no hot water in our unit. Her response, "I've never had that complaint before?" Result - nothing was remedied.
Day two - Front day desk clerk was informed... maintenance came up mid-afternoon (3ish), while we were fortunate enough to be there. He ran water and it actually was hot and he left.
Day three - Awoke to NO hot water at 8:00 a.m., absolutely none!!! There is a video of no water pressure either. We gave up notifying anyone after this...
In the end, we used the hot tub; took showers; and cleaned dishes on off hours. This was not convenient, but it was the only way to actually make the facility functional.
We found the hotel a bit disappointing considering its past reviews and...

TUB DIVERTER: the bathtub had a diverter (pull up or press down to change from shower to bathtub spigot) that was stuck midway, so that water barely came out of shower head because half the water was coming from bathtub filler. A staff member from our 3rd floor fixed it enough to shower, but it was impossible to move the stuck diverter up and down, so that a bath was impossible.
LAUNDRY: BROKEN WASHER. We stayed here a year ago for a couple of weeks, and was NOT advised when we checked in at that time that the laundry machines were broken and we would have to transport our dirty clothes to a different hotel down the street. Instead, we checked out early (2 weeks early!) and completed our stay at a completely different hotel.
THIS TIME (January 2025) we asked when booking if the washer & dryer were in working order. YES, they assured us that everything was working. At the laundry, after adding soap, loading clothes, paying, and starting the washing machine, the water filled for about TWO seconds, then stopped. We reported the problem.
Since outside temperatures were below freezing, someone checked to make sure the line was not frozen (it was not). Staff apologized, saying they had no idea why it was not working. We said that the same thing had happened previously the year before, and there was a very understanding nod and shrug. So we loaded up our now-damp clothes and carried them to our new hotel in nearby Lexington's Zandale neighborhood.
We had planned to extend our 2-night stay once we were sure things worked correctly this time, simply because we love Best Western and we love the people who manage this hotel). Instead, we left after 3 nights, and booked another 30 nights at a different hotel in Lexington.
When we mentioned on checkout that we were disappointed in maintenance and care of this property, the person with whom we spoke agreed wholeheartedly with our assessment that very little money was spent in efficient and prompt care of systems and infrastructure. This needs to change for the hotel to attract any long stay patronage. I put all of my reviews on two travel sites. This is the first negative review I have written in a very, very long time, and I am sad to find...
Read moreFirst off, we have stayed here before and liked it. We stayed around November and wanted to come back after a good experience. This time, it was a terrible experience to say the least. We stayed here last night. Check in was easy, front desk was friendly. Our room seemed clean until we went into the bathroom. We were in a non smoking room and the bathroom smelled like someone had smoked a pack right before we stepped in the room. We told the front desk about it and even the male manager and nothing was done. An hour into our stay we noticed multiple bugs crawling on the wall and Ceiling. The bed and pillows were hard as rocks and the sheets were extremely cheap and uncomfortable. Around 5 am we woke up to our phone ringing. It was another room calling to wake up "Chris" for work. He called the wrong number, we told him Chris doesn't stay in this room, and hung up. This call happened 3 MORE TIMES. We finally had to call the front desk to tell them about this problem. No help. 5 minutes later we woke up to an scary loud banging over and over and over, almost sounded Like someone throwing a bag of ice repeatedly on the floor right outside our room. Mind you, this is 5:45 am. Right after that, a man came into the hallway SCREAMING AT HIS FRIEND IN THE OTHER ROOM TO WAKE UP FOR WORK. He had his radio blaring, and meanwhile he is still making the banging noise too. We called the front desk and they said they would call his room. I told them specifically that he was outside of his room making this noise but nothing was done. This went on for another half hour before it stopped. When I told the lady at checkout about this problem, she said they would discuss it in their next meeting. LOL. Never going here again. Worst hotel...
