Recently went to Penn Station Subs (7/31/23), this is my first time since 2007/2008. The food was just as good now as it was way back when. From what I remember anyway!
It's VERY different from Subway! Let's not assume it's the same or you may be surprised! Depending on what you're looking for, wanting, or expecting from Penn Station there's some Pro's and Con's on an individual basis. Don't get me wrong the food is Amazing! I loved the Sourdough Bread which is totally different from what you're used to with other Sub Franchises! -The freshly cut fries are delicious and not too salty. -They also slice their own deli meat daily. Which is nice to know if/when you're trying to monitor what you eat, whether it's for food allergies, healthy choices, and/or For Religious/Personal preferences. -The Menu is HUGE! Easy to read and find. On the wall to your left as you walk inside. (coming from front entrance. I think there was a side entrance as well. Either way you'll be able to find the menu)!! The menu also lists the calories for each Sub. At the register there is take home menu's available as well. -You can watch everything as the prep and make your food. -They use a grill, deep fryer, and a small conveyor oven to make your food. Depending on what sub you choose and if you're having it toasted or not. Plus, those amazing deep fried freshly cut fries!!
The main thing that intrigued me was being able to see all of their fresh meat through the glass doors of their standup refrigerator cooler. Along with their freshly made lemonade that's made daily, you'll also see the bags of farm fresh potatoes. These all bring comfort in knowing exactly what you'll be eating and drinking. Once again the Food was AMAZING!! I was very satisfied with how it was prepared, tasted, and the quality of everything.
However, with that being said, The price is a tad more expensive given the options that they offer Veggie wise for your Sub. Everything is priced Separately. Sub, fries, and drinks. Unless, you catch their monthly combo specials.
The main question is.... Is the Food worth the Price?!?!
In my opinion, I feel that it is. Yes, you may get less food for their price tag, but everything is prepared fresh each day. The Sourdough Bread is the only that is not baked in the store. There isn't multiple choices of bread either because it's not freshly baked in store daily. The bread is good and tasty though!! Long story short, this location was clean, spacious, clear menu, refreshing, and friendly staff. You can tell that the staff takes their time and job seriously by what you're being served!
Hope your experience is as great as mine...
Read moreAfter avoiding Penn Station for over two years due to previous negative experiences, I decided to give them another shot. Unfortunately, my visit confirmed that nothing has improved. Upon arrival, I was greeted by indifferent employees who were more engrossed in their phones than in providing customer service. Despite placing a simple order, I had to wait almost 30 minutes for a sub and small fries. The staff showed no sense of urgency or respect for my time.
While waiting, I witnessed another customer who had placed an online order almost 30 minutes prior being treated rudely when he inquired about his food. The employee curtly told him, "You get it when you get it. That’s not how it works." This dismissive attitude and lack of efficiency reaffirmed my decision to not return to Penn Station. The overall experience was a disappointing reminder of why I stopped visiting in the...
Read moreI am currently here dining in and as I was paying for my food, 2 young gentlemen came from the outside and went straight behind the grill when I had just asked nicely if it was possible if the gentleman washed their hands. One of the gentleman stood there with something weird underneath his shirt and the other stated "I'm putting on gloves". I then just advised that he is working with customers food and there is too much sickness going around (remind you there was already a fella that was ringing our food up that seemed to have a cough). As we ate our dinner, the 2 gentlemen that was asked to wash their hands was making smart remarks while we were eating which made it uncomfortable. HUGE shout-out to Jayden who helped everyone with there orders and was the only one to seem to have...
