Mixed bag, but there's no way I can give it less than 5 stars, thanks to the huge servings and friendly staff. Don't order here like you would at most other Greek restaurants unless you want to take some to go. The servings are huge. The dolmades are to die for. They're the best I've ever had save for my father's home made dolmades with grape leaves from the vine in the yard. And they're BIG, almost as big as stuffed cabbage. Definitely made from scratch, not like the kind some restaurants serve, which are no different than the kind you get in a can.
The gyros are very generous and delicious. The feta salad was good. The tzatziki is missing something but I'm not sure what - garlic? Lemon zest? It just had too much herb and too little bite/zing. The spanakopita is missing ingredients, too. It's pretty much just spinach inside. So give that a pass.
I want to go back and try the lentil soup, and a few other things. Despite the couple complaints, this is still a must-try restaurant if you like Greek food. We'll be coming back. (Gyros not shown...
Read moreThis is my favorite restaurant in Georgetown. It serves classic Greek-American food with generous portions, and does all the best stuff right. The Spanakopita is tightly wrapped and just flaky enough, and the dolmades (meat and vegetarian) are very large and well stuffed (cuban cigars instead of the oily little pinky fingers you get most places). I'm a big fan of the pot roast plate, which isn't the most Greek item on the menu but is very well done; it's cooked for hours at a low heat and the meat is extremely tender. It's something like nine or ten bucks and with the rice, carrots, and potatoes you get like three pounds of food. You couldn't make that at home for less.
My father loves the pastichio, which is a sort of Greek lasagna, and everyone else in my family likes the gyro combo, which comes with a salad or soup (lemon chicken is good), two spanakopita, and meat shaved off one of those rotating vertical spits.
Also, don't heed that one star review from last week: that guy was recently fired for stealing...
Read moreI've never been able to travel as I grew up in a lower income, single bread-winner, Latino household so the marvels of Greek cuisine were always out of reach. But let me tell ya, once I took a bite out of my Gyro Plate, my soul travelled 6,000 miles to the shores of Athens.
The service was fast and friendly, the food was fresh and astoundingly affordable. It was an out of body experience that I had never dreamt would occur for only $8 and some change. After I was done eating, I watched the movie 300 about 4 times as I could not get enough of Greece in me. If I could shake the cooks hand, no...if I could hug that human...I would hold and not let go. But I can't because of COVID and all that.
Anyway, I got sidetracked. This place is incredible quality and value, and if you like Greek food or think you might like it, stop by and try it. You...
