best to park downtown and walk on over with a gorgeous sunset view although the water is usually very lucky yucky and should be called green hole instead of Blue hole from time to time :p
but of course that is not what you come here for and bring your family and pets
you come here for the view the atmosphere to get away to thankfully not have to deal with anywhere near the kind of bugs you have to deal with the wildlife you have to deal with the other parks making this a nice relaxed place with plenty of shade depending on the time of day to hang out
also depending on what side of were you actually do get into might actually be able to dodge all the moss as so.e were doing
And the other hand there is not like restrooms to access except on the more westbound side there's not showers and do keep in mind that and keep an eye out for random people on bikes coming up from out of nowhere as there's a bike route that goes through this area
it's been a very special place to do baptisms and in this case it's spiritually immersed before Passover as it meets all the biblical standards and when the diffuse in Central Texas that does that's easy to easily accessible but I would definitely not call it handicap accessible with the challenge of the rock formations
otherwise definitely dog friendly family friendly and...
Read moreMy 2 and 5 year old and I had a lot of fun here. We spent 3.5 hours exploring the different water areas, collecting shells and stuff off the bottom, swimming in the deeper parts and wading in the shallow parts. The water felt amazing too! The water is clear when not disturbed by kicking up the bottom mud/algae stuff which is why later on in the day there is more "alge" floating downriver. When we first got there at 9:30 on a Monday there wasn't really anyone at all, but obviously as the day went on more people came. The rocks by the waterfall areas are definitely slick though, so be super careful, even in the water. Water shoes could be helpful although we were fine without them. We brought our own wagon the kids ate in, and a folding chair for me, we just posted up in the shade along the roadline. The picnic tables are located a bit far from the main swimming areas but I assume that's because they're in the shaded areas under the trees, and the bathroom is at the end of the road - not that nice inside but better than no bathrooms. There was no police like other reviews have mentioned, maybe that's just a weekend thing? Overall a fun spot with kids for sure (there were also dogs, some on leash some off), as well as any age...
Read moreBlue Park has been a landmark of Georgetown for many years. I used to come here as a young boy with my folks who would take us fishing to pass the time here. As the years moved on, I would come here quite often to "hang out" with friends from school and the neighborhood. Unfortunately, in recent years, it has become an area where many come to enjoy only to wind up creating havoc.
The park has gone through some changes over the years. It was nice to see the city make it a point to clean it up and get the trials finished. The scenery makes for nice pics both in the spring and fall. Look for the "cliffs" by the dam area and you can have a nice background shot. (If you are into photography). Get on the trail and walk your way back to San Gabriel park either thru VFW park on the south fork or directly through the north fork of the San Gabriel River.
The photos are a once in a life time even for some around here. It never really snows that heavy here in Georgetown. The last time I remember it snowing this heavy was around 1985. I knew that Blue Hole park would provide nice photo shots to cherish for...
