TLDR if you think this is good it's like saying McDonald's is burger and I feel bad for you. Don't be "culinary uneducated in Georgetown."
Hate to break it to you but this is not good Chinese. If you think this is even edible let alone good I don't want to insult you here but you need to broaden your horizons. This is just straight-up bad. This is slightly better than disgusting Panda Express and equally as bad as Lin's Cafe and Tokyo. It's just not worth eating here.
White rice out of a Chinese place should just be hot and steamy and fluffy. This tasted slightly old and a little bit rigid. Almost like it was held too long or maybe reheated from yesterday. Hot and sour soup was a joke. Please send your chefs to a real Szechuan restaurant and taste this dish properly so you understand what you're doing wrong. Pretty sure you're missing black vinegar. Even the egg drop soup was bad. And the sesame chicken was abysmal. All heavy breading with a slightly oily taste and I honestly couldn't even tell if it was white or dark meat chicken (should be white meat) because there was so little of it. The dish should be named "fried breading in overly sweet sauce". That's a solid 4000 calories of garbage. fried dumplings were all so terrible. There's supposed to be boiled or steamed then pan-fried. Not deep fried. And please stop serving this radioactive orange-colored duck sauce. Way too sweet. Upgrade.
Also guys the classical music playing softly in the background is a little weird. It's like negative vibe. Might be appropriate at a three-star Michelin restaurant. But definitely not here.
If you want to taste good Chinese food in Georgetown you're only real option is phoever diner (Vietnamese ironically). Go to Din Ho for Cantonese. And next door is Three gorges szechuan. These are different regions of China that have very different cuisines. Szechaun is the cuisine that some of your favorites like sesame chicken originated from). And grab some dumplings from Julie's dumpling next door. All this good stuff in one shopping center. Georgetown is close enough to Austin that you actually have some legitimate delicious authentic cuisine in the area. Don't eat bad food please life...
Read moreI have been spoiled by some pretty amazing Chinese food for most of my life, and it's been admittedly a bit tough to find anything close to that out here in the North-of-Austin area.
Came across some good reviews of Asian Cuisine and thought I'd give them a shot. Phoned in an order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I got there in about 22 minutes and it was ready to go. Starting off well.
Got it home in about fifteen minutes (had to make a quick stop for some hot mustard and sweet sauce), and everything was still hot. We wanted to get a good idea of what they do well so we ordered a little bit of everything, focusing on the basics: pork Fried rice, beef chow fun, hot and sour soup, broccoli beef, sweet and sour pork, szechuan chicken, potstickers, Spring rolls, and a couple other favorites.
The big plus was that the meats used in all of the dishes appeared to be of good quality. Tender with minimal fat, and absorbing flavor well. The sauces were decent if not pretty standard (not a bad thing), and the soup was nothing special though it had a good amount of veggies and such in the broth.
Unfortunately there was a downside as well. The fried rice, noodles, pot stickers, and spring rolls were not as high quality, being comparable to that which you would get in a take-out-box kind of place (2 main dishes and rice/noodles in a Styrofoam box for $5.99). I dig on those kind of places when that's what I want, but this was not one of those times.
It was nearly $100 for everything, with everything averaging $8-$12 per item. For what we got I feel it was good value for some items, and too expensive for the others, so if we go back we would definitely be more selective.
Overall, the food was a mixed bag, but certainly not bad. I'd give it 3.5 stars if i could, hoping that this was just an off day, and that next time...
Read moreBland food. Incomplete order. No resolution. Won't return! Lunched with my wife. We both got won ton soup. Beyond bland, no taste whatever. We both asked for sweet & sour sauce. My wife received hers, I had to asked my waiter a second time and he said sure. Finally had to ask a second waiter and finally received mine. Both small cups were ice cold. Not good for warm egg rolls. After taking three bites, I informed my waiter that my Triple Delight only had chicken, no shrimp or beef. He talked to the cook, returned and informed me that the cook said it was in there. I again showed him my plate and he said it was there when my food left the kitchen and there was nothing he could do about it. We stopped eating, got a to-go box and went to the register to pay. I told the cashier about my order and she repeated that there was nothing she could do about it. I said, "Nothing?" And she asked for the cook to come to the front. He said, "How do I know that you didn't eat the beef & shrimp before you told your waiter." I asked if he was saying I was a liar and he shrugged his shoulders. He told the cashier to subtract $0.60 cents from my bill. The cashier again said there was nothing she could do. Without a doubt, this was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. With rude and insulting waiter and cook combined with bland food, I wouldn't return for any reason. Please don't bother apologizing. I've read your other responses. The time to fix the problem was while I was in the restaurant. Simply mediocre food with...
