My kids and I stopped in this past weekend for a late lunch. Their dining room is open, and they have every other table closed to allow for social distancing. Chastity, our server, greeted us quickly, brought menus, and took our drink order.
We all had the catfish dinner, which comes with two large catfish fillets, fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. It was delicious!! The catfish was freshly breaded with a cornmeal crust and was served piping hot. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I didn't care for the coleslaw, as it is the finely chopped kind and has pickles in it. However, the hush puppies were FANTASTIC! The cornmeal batter is slightly sweet and has whole kernels of corn in it. I normally don't like hush puppies, as they tend to be dry, but these were PERFECT! The tartar sauce that comes with the fish is made in house and is pretty tasty, too.
Four stars, not five, because of the aforementioned coleslaw and everything being served on styrofoam plates. I hope that changes post-COVID.
The restaurant is clean and orderly, and the folks who work there are friendly. The size of meal you get is excellent value... lots of food at a reasonable price! Thank y'all for satisfying our catfish craving! We will...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying the food at Big Tâs Seafood is not the problem. It is delicious, and I would not change a thing about it. However, the customer service needs work. The wait staff is poorly trained on how to handle the lack of organization in the kitchen and communicating effectively to customers. I went to this establishment with my family of 5 tonight. Only three of us received our food and even then, one of those orders was incorrect. 30-45 minutes later, the other two people were still waiting on their meals. Keep in mind, other tables have been served. The takeout orders were moving briskly as well. Our server did not come talk to us about why it was taking so long and did not say the food was coming. A female waitress asked if we were alright, and we told her what happened. She asked if the remaining two meals were grilled (they were not) and said, âOk.â We ended up asking for the bill for the food we did receive. The gentleman named Tim that worked the front counter comped our bill and apologized. Long story short-Come at your own risk and only if you have the...
Read moreDelicious food, seasoned well, with great texture. My hubby loves the jumbo shrimp and I order fried scallops every time. Fish ad grits are great as well. For my family of 3 we typically order 2 platters with fish, shrimp and scallops, with an extra order of shrimp and grits. Itâs way too much food for us, but we continue to order that much because my husband thinks weâre not going to have enough (eye roll). Youâll get about 2-3 pieces of fish, 4 jumbo shrimp and 4-6 scallops, fries, cole slaw and hush puppies. You just canât go wrong here. If youâre in a rush and/or starving, donât even do it to yourself. Food is cooked to order- itâs NOT fast food. When itâs busy, you could be waiting upwards of a half hour for your meal. If youâre sitting and chatting with family itâs not a big deal. If youâre staring at the counter salivating, itâs like medieval torture. I order ahead and take it to go. My fries may be lukewarm by the time I get home, but the rest of the food is still smoking...
