We went to Cadwalladers for supper on a Wednesday night with high expectations as other Google reviews were high. Unfortunately the restaurant let us down, and at a steep price. I ordered the halibut which honestly looked and tasted like fish from a prepackaged frozen meal. The goat cheese grits were good, but the collards that came with it were absolutely terrible. They tasted burnt and oily somehow. My fiancé ordered the bison steak. It was cooked medium rare but it tasted burnt and chemically even though the outside was not burnt. The potatoes that came with her steak really tasted like cardboard also. The charcuterie board we ordered for $25 had a few measley pieces of deli meat and 3-4 bites of cheese, absolutely astonishingly small portions on a charcuterie board that cost $25. Most of the board was actually empty. On top of that, the items on the board were quite flavorless except for the blue cheese and Brie. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée , it was good but again, astonishingly small portioned for the price. We don’t mind paying top dollar for good food, in fact we do it all over Augusta. But this was far from top dollar food. Our total was over $150 for two people and that’s fine, but the food and experience did not warrant that price point whatsoever. The waitress was okay but didn’t visit our table very often and seemed to be in some kind of mood despite our politeness. We were super letdown by the restaurant and left very unimpressed. If you read this, I’d recommend taking your date to Salt & Marrow or Cork & Flame. They serve similar style menus at similar price points, but with much better food...
Read moreYou could live your entire life as a local and not know this place exists and it would be a shame because you'd be missing out on quite the experience. By word of mouth alone this place stays packed. Highly recommend that you make reservations vs walking in for that reason. You'll likely be greeted by John (former Manager, now Owner). John is a mold of what every other eating establishment should follow when it comes to how to treat their patrons. He's polite, professional, personable, and I feel confident had anything gone wrong, he would have gone out of his way to make us happy. Our visit was perfection. From the moment we walked in, to when we were acknowledged as we were leaving. The service was amazing. The food surpassed all expectations. Here's a breakdown of our choices (menu changes weekly): Appetizer SWEET POTATO TASSO HAM CORN CHOWDER (BUTTER PEAS, FINGERLING POTATOES)
Entrees GRILLED CERTIFIED PRIME BLACK ANGUS FILET MIGNON, WHIPPED POTATOES, SEASONAL VEGETABLE, ROASTED SWEET ONION BOURBON CREAM SAUCE, FRESH MICRO CHIVES
PAN ROASTED PEKIN DUCK BREAST, BRAISED SMOKED DUCK LEG, WHIPPED POTATOES, CONFIT GARLIC BROCOLLINI, SMOKED CRIMINI SAUCE
With all of that, we were too stuffed for dessert but they certainly sounded delicious.
Cadwalladers is a hidden gem and should be experienced by all. Highly...
Read moreI've been wanting to dine here for quite a while and it did not disappoint. We had a work Christmas Party of 15 ppl. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive, knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. I got the appetizer Crab Cake and it literally melted in your mouth. My entree was the Petite Shrimp & Scallop Risotto and was probably the best risotto I've ever had. Even though I got the "Petite" size, it was plenty and I took some home. The place was decorated for Christmas & the Holidays and the atmosphere was warm. We sat at a large table to accommodate everyone but they also have nice booths that give you a sense of privacy for "date night". While the meal could be considered semi-pricy; when compared to what you pay now days at casual restaurants, it wasn't overpriced at all. Great place for a romantic date or just a nicer place for a family dinner, work event or meeting friends. The menu has a great variety from bison, duck, shellfish, pork chops & more. Something for everyone. I will...
