The only reason I would ever go back here is if my taste buds die and I want to get drunk quickly. I love Mexican food so I tried el ray. I was disappointed from start to finish. It was lunch time on a weekend. My husband and I decided to get a drink, we could not find a drink menu and then was told they didn't have one and only margaritas they had was lime or a kind of spicy one. I went with lime and frozen thinking it be great. It wasn't it was so strong and gross I couldn't drink it at all my husband got the regular lime and had trouble drinking it. I got some strawberry slosh from the kitchen after they looked for something forever and added it, it was still so gross my husband finished it with his tipsyness from his drink. I ordered an appetizer is what it said on the menu and a pic of 3-4 little pocket like tacos. While we waited and tried to drink our drinks we tried the salsa...let me just say ugh...the main one taste like a splash of salsa and pizza sauce mixed together, the others were so hot the smallest dip in them I couldnt dip again. Only one tasted half decent and it was a green chili one. When my appetizer arrived it was one big pocket taco the outside was a little burnt in some places, once I bit in I found the shell to be uncooked on the inside but toasted burnt on the outside! I got the one with marinaded pork with pineapple, not only did I not taste any pineapple there wasn't not one in with the meat at all. The meat did have good flavor but as I got half down I noticed grease running down my fingers to my hands and literally down my elbows. My plate was swimming there was so much grease pouring out of this one pocket. I tried to put a few napkins around it and the grease soaked through them as well. Service wasn't good either. I can't say I'd ever go back even if for a drink no point in a good strong drink if it's so gross I can't drink it. Mexican restaurant maybe authentic well I'm not in the kitchen but deff not what I call authentic. The paint was also peeling off the walls the celing seamed to have leaks and...

HORRIBLE place/Customer Service! I ordered a house tower and it had hair in it so I asked could they remake that ... then , My sister in law ordered a taco salad with steak, they brung out just lettuce and sour cream , so she told them that’s not what she ordered and the “manager” told her that was what she ordered and my sister in law continued to tell her that’s not what she ordered and she’s not eating that , the manager told her U don’t have to eat it but you are going to pay for it because that’s what you ordered. My sister in law told her no I’m not paying for that and The manager became very argumentative with my sister in law trying to make her pay for something that NEVER left the manager hand nor was it touched by my sister in law . They then went to the back boxed the food up in a Togo box and had another manager bring the food out stating here’s your Togo order at this point we are lost we never had a Togo order so turns out it’s the lettuce she had just brung out just had another manager bring it out so I then told her ma’am u can take that back we don’t want that and we are not paying for it . She then walked away from our table and moments later Columbia county police office walks in ... the manager told the officer my sister in law said she wasn’t paying for any of her food so I explained to the office no sir that’s not what was said what was said was she’s not paying for food she never touched nor did it ever leave the managers hand , so I asked the manager where on your menu those it say once food is ORDERED u have to pay for it, she told me it’s doesn’t say that so I stated WELL MAAM I AM NOT PAYING FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT TOUCH NEVERTHELESS IT NEVER LEFT YOUR HAND . So I’m assuming the police told her I was right ..... Again they bring the ticket out and charged me for a tower that I didn’t even get to drink NO again u need to take that off also because I didn’t touch it and I’m NOT paying for it .. so the ticket gets brung out and we get told not to return , that’s GREAT because I WASNT coming back anyway...

0 starts if I could!! This was my first time and I will not return to this establishment. I ordered the trio rice and it came out quickly, but it was cold. When I told the server, “what would you like me to do about it” was the response I received, very rude. They put my food in the microwave and brought it back to me. We ordered a pitcher and a tower that did not come until we were almost finished eating our food. We ordered a few cups of queso which were also served cold, and one had a very long hair in it. At the end of the night, our waitress Vanessa, gave our bills. My friend and I asked Vanessa if the price of the pitcher could be split across our two bills, and she said yes. However, she charged my friend $19 and me only $3. We asked her was this correct, and she said yes. Confused, we agreed that I would just send my friend the portion of the money later, no big deal. When it was time to pay, I showed Vanessa my military ID to receive the military discount and I also asked if my friend and I could combine our two tickets. Vanessa said yes. My card was charged $102.99. My friends bill was about $60 (after taxes and gratuity) and mine was about $20 (after taxes and gratuity), so we were confused because that is not correct and my military discount clearly had not been applied. I asked Vanessa about it and she seemed to not understand so I asked to speak to the manager. At first the manager said he understood the problem and that Vanessa made a mistake and that he would give me a refund. However, about 10-15 minutes later he came back with a rude and condescending attitude. He said he would not be refunding me even though Vanessa made a mistake and over charged my card! He told me to dispute the charge with my bank and walked away. The way I was treated was terrible, the managers attitude was terrible and he made smart remarks during this interaction. I will never go here again and I do not recommend anyone to go here either. They...

First time here and we definitely enjoyed the vibes that this place offers. Great food and we loved the Sangria tower!

Tried out El Rey for dinner. Didn’t take long to get seated since it wasn’t a busy night. Service was mediocre. We were served drinks and then our server left to give us time to read the menu and must’ve forgotten we were there cause we sat for near 20 minutes for them to come back. Food was prepared relatively quick despite the long wait to order. Got the vegetable fajitas, which came with rice and beans, as well as carne asada and pollo tacos. The food was kind of disappointing. Hearing the hype around the place is misleading as the quality was about the same you’d expect at any other Mexican restaurant. The carne asada and pollo were both dry and lacking flavor, the fajitas were very plain, the beans tasted like it came out of a can and the rice lacked the flavor you’d expect. The tortilla chips were lukewarm and hard too. Not the worst food ever, but definitely not better than your other options in town
