Empanadas are very good, the restaurant is near my work place and we go often to get them for breakfast and sometimes lunch. I'm putting 2 stars because the service is terrible. There is a woman in the morning who seems like she hates what she does because she will very much treat you like she's doing you a favor.
When you ask for your empanadas she won't tell you that they're not cook, assuming you have the 10min to wait, if I'm ordering a to-go empanada that means I want something fast, at least say they are not ready and they will take 10minutes (not 5 as she tells you when you say you don't have the time). A few weeks ago my dad and I needed to be in Atlanta and we wanted to buy empanadas, we were on a rush, but we figured it wouldn't be more than a few minutes to get back on the road. Besides the bad customer service, danced around the question until my dad ,after 10 minutes of waiting, asked if the empanadas were ready and they told him no. He had to cancel our order and leave. It might sound as rushed, but my point is that they should be prepared beforehand to any client that might be on their way to somewhere else and not assume that one has all the time in the world to spend.
And lastly, you have to BEG for the guava salsa. First I wasn't even done asking for the guava salsa but when I barely mentioned the salsa word she was already pointing the salsa station. So I asked for 3 salsas because we were going to be more than one that loves the guava salsa. She filled 2 less than halfway and tossed them in. My co-worker who wanted the salsas warned me about this since he told me in one occasion he had to offer to pay for the salsas because she didn't want to give him more than two saying hat would be enough for the FIVE cheese empanadas he was buying for 3 different people.
BTW they charge you extra for to-go orders. So I recommend you buying dine in and packing your own empanadas since you're already packing the other salsas yourself anyway (the others that are not guava obviously lol)
From now on I am not buying myself unless someone else is buying for me because I'm not going to stop for some good food before a long day of work just to have a bad experience before doing so.
TL;DR: in conclusion, food delicious, morning shift service not...
Read moreI googled cuban food near where I had been shopping and this restaurant was one of the top 2 that came up. Since it was the closest to me, I decided to order online for pick up. Ordering online, I noticed the prices listed were a litt little higher than on there original menu. I still decided to order online since I knew they would be closing in one hour. At least this way I knew I would be able to get the food before they closed the kitchen for the night. Located just off of the well known Buford highway in Norcross, the restaurant was easy to find. The cashier was a friendly young lady who I could tell was about business. The restaurant was well lit and I couldn't help but notice the very large Cuban flag behind the counter on the wall. That's what I wanted to see. Lol To me, it implied that some authentic Cuban person was preparing my food. The menu was clear and easy. I ordered a traditional cuban sandwich..which came with a choice of plantains or fries or rice & beans. I chose the very tasty sweet plantains. I also ordered a plate called Palomilla. I chose the beef/steak. It was great because the thin cut steak is smothered in shredded onions and on the side there was sweet plantains, rice & beans, and I added a side of sliced avocado for an additional charge. They also included 2 sauces on the side. Since I've had this dish many times at other places, I felt this one needed a bit more flavor. It needed a little adobo or something as my food was a bit bland. Don't get me wrong, I still think the food was presented well, and it may have been that I came and hour before closing that my food wasn't as perfect as I believe they do. I DID like my food, and I will return to the restaurant since its close to where I like to shop around..but if I'm more south on Buford highway, I'll still go by my favorite Cuban place. Don't pass this place up though if you're...
Read moreWe arrived at this location at 5pm, they advertise that they close at 6:30pm. We were 5 total and a baby. Upon arrival, instead of the usual welcome, please have a seat, we were greeted with we don’t have tables available- we were informed that the right half of the restaurant had already been cleaned and mopped and we needed to sit on the left side of the restaurant (where there were only 4 tables available with only 2-4 chairs each). I told the waitress that we wouldn’t fit on any of those and asked if she could join them to make room for all of us. She stated that we would have to wait until the 1 person sitting on that area (the open area) finish for her to join the tables for us. Did I mention that there were only two customers at the restaurant and about 10 other tables available? I told her, you advertise that you close at 6:30pm and it is 5pm. She answered by saying that they only have those tables (the ones on the left side available) and repeated the the floor has been mopped already!!! Please note that this is not a big restaurant and there are not separate areas, it is a room with tables and chairs... Anyway, I insisted, she said no, I asked for the manager, she said I AM THE MANAGER! So, we left the establishment promising that we will never be back as she truly ruined my father’s birthday dinner :( (he is turning 70! So a big one) I never experience anything like this before therefore I share that rudeness at this place have gotten to a whole new level in my book today. D Cuban, please revisit your advertisement and share with the public that after 5pm (or whenever the tables and floors are cleaned) nobody is allowed inside!! Or better, send your manager to customer...
