My husband went to grab me oxtails for dinner and wanted to try this place for the first time. He bought me this plate home and I was highly disappointed as I have ate at several other restaurants with better service, pricing and quality. The server and cashier KiKi was not only rude but asked my husband what sides would he like just to turn around and say ā€œwe don’t have anymoreā€ to every side he mentioned. The only ā€œsideā€ they had was rice, so why even ask what side would we like??. Long story short, we received a plate full of rice and 5 little oxtails for $25.80. I told my husband he should’ve left that mess there cause that’s ridiculous but he didn't know and was just trying to get me some oxtails like I wanted but this mess here is insane. I have attached a picture of another local restaurant showing what it’s SUPPOSE to look like. Unlike ā€œJamaican Tasteā€ I go other places and receive a hefty amount of oxtails WITH sides for a better price. This is just a current pic of a recent place showing what I was TRYING to get a Jamaican taste but instead I received a plate full of rice and baby oxtails. This was an awful first experience

I wanted to rate y’all a 4 because my beef Pattie had more air in it than beef. It tasted well which means it had to be packed with seasoning because ain’t no meat in that guy. I started to eat my Stewed Snapper, Rice & Peas, Callaloo. The callalo was A1 ya hear me. The rice & peas had a unique fragrance that tasted so authentic I was well pleased. The stew sauce on the Snapper is more red Orange than brown which is unique and delicious. The Snapper didn’t taste fishy which is the first thing I check for. It was perfect taste but it was a bit dry in areas not enough to complain at all. I thought it was so good that I finished the Flaky low meat Beef Pie to go with those amazing flavors. Have to wait on Fish to cook Fresh to Order which is perfectly normal. I saw the other food and it looked good. The plaza locations are a bit tough to get out into the crazy traffic but I was very delighted to see quality food in the are. I’d highly Recommend. Ladies upfront were nice and place was clean. Fill that beef Pattie with sufficient/real & noticeable ground beef please and thank you

I don’t know about everyone else’s opinions on their portion sizes but my portion was very respectful. Jamaican food is pricy in the states regardless $33 for 8 big oxtail sounds about right. The food is really good, the rice and peas are cooked well. Oxtail is very tender but it had a little too much fat on it for me. That being said the meat was heavy even aside from the fat. Flavor is really good, but I think I'm used to a little more sweetness in the sauce. Plantains tasted great just could’ve been a little more burnt. The cabbage was amazing. Not too salty. I asked for sauce over the cabbage but something tells me that would’ve took away from the flavor the cabbage has. It’s really tender and no crunch. I’d definitely eat this again. (I will mention that I asked for extra…heavy sauce so this plate may look a little different than the ones you see before mine. Make sure you inquire about that extra sauce)

On September 27 2025 I tried Jamaican Taste (Jonesboro Ga) for the very first time. The atmosphere is very welcoming when you enter. It took a while to be greeted by one of the three women behind the counter but when they did it was pleasant. I placed an order for two small oxtail dinners. The price was 26 each I’m assuming with taxes it came up to 57 dollars and change. I love oxtail so I don’t mind paying a premium price for something I like. However the food was not hitting on a thing. While waiting for my food to be dished I decided to get a tropical rhythm drink, the lady assisting me told me the price was 4 dollars, I immediately cancelled that and put it back. I’m not paying 4 dollars for a 16oz drink. On to the food! First the flimsy styrofoam box that the food was put in should be thrown away expeditiously (shout out to T.I) The dinner came as followed: rice, cabbage, plantain and oxtail. I watched as the young lady dished out the food. I want to tell you they can teach a course on food sharing. She concentrated so hard on the portion she delved out. The rice she may or may not have counted the exact grain to dish out. The cabbage was minimal (see other reviews regarding this) 2 pieces of plantain and then I watched her struggle to take out 6 pieces of oxtail and some gravy. It annoys me to watch something like that but I understand restaurants have to watch their bottom line. I got home gave my wife her plate and I sat before mine ready for some good food. The first bite of rice let me know I wasn’t going to enjoy my food. The rice was overcooked. Onto the cabbage nothing spectacular to write there, just as stated before it wasn’t enough. The plantains were cut small. Onto the oxtail, this is what killed me. There was no seasoning at all on them. I was highly disappointed. Money is hard to come by and when people spend their hard earned money at an establishment the product should be good. Now this may have been a one off occasion but from reading other reviews I see that I’m not wrong. I hope you can accept constructive criticism and hopefully improve on the things mentioned above. Unfortunately this first time patron won’t...

I went in there and it was so awkward. There was a lady there before me and she was being helped . The girl behind the counter was communicating with her and was helping her then some lady came from the back to ring her up . When the lady left . I am just waiting on the girl behind the counter to acknowledge me so that I can tell her my order . I felt eyes on me so I looked to the left(at the register) and the other lady is just starting at me . I asked her was she waiting on me or something and she responded with yes .I asked her why didn’t she say anything ?? It was so awkward the way she was just starring . The girl behind the counter still never looked up . At any rate I told her my order and that was that . The girl behind the counter started to make it and I asked her for jerk sauce on the side . Still never acknowledged me but obviously heard me. Weird right ? Why is no one talking . I just decided I wasn’t saying anything else either . When she brought me my food , this GIRl had the nerve to say … you welcome .

Maybe I’m use to better customer service but who doesn’t acknowledge a customer when they come in, never look them in the face , don’t say thank you for spending your money, but at the end can gives a condescending ā€œyou welcomeā€ . On top of that the food is ice cold . I’m so annoyed …and that will be the last dollar I spend at that location. I wish I would have got my money back but I will just...

I really wish there was NO STARS TO GIVE TO THEM. They are costly with NO FLAVOR. This is the WORST CARIBBEAN FOOD EVER!!! This restaurant is where FLAVOR goes to DIE. Where is the SALT, BLACK-PEPPER, ONION, GARLIC, GREEN ONIONS. They don’t KNOW HOW TO Marinate meat. I had they Roti… can’t fully blame them, cause I don’t know if they make them in-house or they are from a vender, either way….NO FLAVOR!!!!!! The curry only looks like curry, but yet again NO FLAVOR. The curry taste like they just take the chicken wash off with water and started to cook. NO SPICE!!! For the OXTAILS… you guess correctly FLAVORLESS!!! There was NO BELL-PEPPERS, ONIONS, CARROTS, PEAS. I would be ashamed to be called Jamaican, if I was Jamaican I would ask this restaurant to change their name from JAMAICAN TASTE to ā€œFLAVA-KILLAā€, because that is where flavor goes to die!!!… As for the drinks FULL OF SUGAR AND NO REAL FLAVOR. The pineapple ginger was water down and full of sugar and the pink lemonade…SMH All they have to do is use country-time lemonade and a few fresh lemons. Pretty sure a child’s lemonade stand would be more flavorful. I WISH I COULD OF GOTTON O FULL REFUND...PERIOD. I understand that SOME PEOPLE may not understand really good Caribbean food, flavors and spices, but they can up the flavor for the REAL CARIBBEANS. The food DON’T have to be so spicy that you...
