On September 27 2025 I tried Jamaican Taste (Jonesboro Ga) for the very first time. The atmosphere is very welcoming when you enter. It took a while to be greeted by one of the three women behind the counter but when they did it was pleasant. I placed an order for two small oxtail dinners. The price was 26 each Iām assuming with taxes it came up to 57 dollars and change. I love oxtail so I donāt mind paying a premium price for something I like. However the food was not hitting on a thing. While waiting for my food to be dished I decided to get a tropical rhythm drink, the lady assisting me told me the price was 4 dollars, I immediately cancelled that and put it back. Iām not paying 4 dollars for a 16oz drink. On to the food! First the flimsy styrofoam box that the food was put in should be thrown away expeditiously (shout out to T.I) The dinner came as followed: rice, cabbage, plantain and oxtail. I watched as the young lady dished out the food. I want to tell you they can teach a course on food sharing. She concentrated so hard on the portion she delved out. The rice she may or may not have counted the exact grain to dish out. The cabbage was minimal (see other reviews regarding this) 2 pieces of plantain and then I watched her struggle to take out 6 pieces of oxtail and some gravy. It annoys me to watch something like that but I understand restaurants have to watch their bottom line. I got home gave my wife her plate and I sat before mine ready for some good food. The first bite of rice let me know I wasnāt going to enjoy my food. The rice was overcooked. Onto the cabbage nothing spectacular to write there, just as stated before it wasnāt enough. The plantains were cut small. Onto the oxtail, this is what killed me. There was no seasoning at all on them. I was highly disappointed. Money is hard to come by and when people spend their hard earned money at an establishment the product should be good. Now this may have been a one off occasion but from reading other reviews I see that Iām not wrong. I hope you can accept constructive criticism and hopefully improve on the things mentioned above. Unfortunately this first time patron wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in there and it was so awkward. There was a lady there before me and she was being helped . The girl behind the counter was communicating with her and was helping her then some lady came from the back to ring her up . When the lady left . I am just waiting on the girl behind the counter to acknowledge me so that I can tell her my order . I felt eyes on me so I looked to the left(at the register) and the other lady is just starting at me . I asked her was she waiting on me or something and she responded with yes .I asked her why didnāt she say anything ?? It was so awkward the way she was just starring . The girl behind the counter still never looked up . At any rate I told her my order and that was that . The girl behind the counter started to make it and I asked her for jerk sauce on the side . Still never acknowledged me but obviously heard me. Weird right ? Why is no one talking . I just decided I wasnāt saying anything else either . When she brought me my food , this GIRl had the nerve to say ⦠you welcome .
Maybe Iām use to better customer service but who doesnāt acknowledge a customer when they come in, never look them in the face , donāt say thank you for spending your money, but at the end can gives a condescending āyou welcomeā . On top of that the food is ice cold . Iām so annoyed ā¦and that will be the last dollar I spend at that location. I wish I would have got my money back but I will just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wish there was NO STARS TO GIVE TO THEM. They are costly with NO FLAVOR. This is the WORST CARIBBEAN FOOD EVER!!! This restaurant is where FLAVOR goes to DIE. Where is the SALT, BLACK-PEPPER, ONION, GARLIC, GREEN ONIONS. They donāt KNOW HOW TO Marinate meat. I had they Roti⦠canāt fully blame them, cause I donāt know if they make them in-house or they are from a vender, either wayā¦.NO FLAVOR!!!!!! The curry only looks like curry, but yet again NO FLAVOR. The curry taste like they just take the chicken wash off with water and started to cook. NO SPICE!!! For the OXTAILS⦠you guess correctly FLAVORLESS!!! There was NO BELL-PEPPERS, ONIONS, CARROTS, PEAS. I would be ashamed to be called Jamaican, if I was Jamaican I would ask this restaurant to change their name from JAMAICAN TASTE to āFLAVA-KILLAā, because that is where flavor goes to die!!!⦠As for the drinks FULL OF SUGAR AND NO REAL FLAVOR. The pineapple ginger was water down and full of sugar and the pink lemonadeā¦SMH All they have to do is use country-time lemonade and a few fresh lemons. Pretty sure a childās lemonade stand would be more flavorful. I WISH I COULD OF GOTTON O FULL REFUND...PERIOD. I understand that SOME PEOPLE may not understand really good Caribbean food, flavors and spices, but they can up the flavor for the REAL CARIBBEANS. The food DONāT have to be so spicy that you...
