I usually like going to Miyako with friends and family to celebrate birthdays, graduations and events over Hibachi. My guest and I knew it was going to be a little wait to be seated since it’s graduation season and it was a ton of families. We patiently checked in at 7:20pm and was told it would be a 30min wait. We grabbed a drink from the bar while waiting and eventually was able to be seated at 8:15pm along with two ladies and some kids. We were waiting to see who our server was for the first 10min when we sat down. After nobody came to our table we asked two passing waiters/waitresses who is our server because we didn’t get greeted by anyone when we sat down. They tell us someone should be coming to our table and we then have to wait another 15min just to have someone come to our table. My guests grabs one of the staff named Amy to see why our hibachi table has not been greeted nor had anyone come and take our drink order. Amy tells us that she apologizes for the mix-up takes our drink order after the hibachi table across from us (who was just seated) already has one of the male waiters taking their drink orders. After Amy takes our food and drink order 30min later after being seated, my guest and I ask to speak with the manager immediately because this is terrible customer service. Amy tells us that she will grab the manager. After 7 minutes we grab another staff to please grab whoever the manager is to come to our table immediately. Still no manager comes after a few minutes so I go to grab another staff and tell them we need the manager at the table for a 3rd time. By this time the hibachi chef has come to the table and starts to prepare our tables orders. The same lady we spoke to earlier named Amy comes to our table and ask if we were looking for the manager. I tell her yes and she tells me she’s the manager and I said you aren’t the same manager I’ve been introduced to the last few times I was at Miyako. I then tell her that it’s unacceptable for her and other staff to not have got us our drinks or greeting our table until 30min after we sat at the hibachi tables. I then ask her what can she do to make up for this terrible and unacceptable customer service “after” we were seated. She apologizes for the long wait and then tells us that it’s nothing she can do because it’s busy. I tell her that’s no excuse because she (Amy) came by our table multiple times to clean the hibachi table next to us that was finishing. I ask her can she discount our table or comp something from our meal tickets. She refuses any accountability and tells my guest and I that we can leave if we don’t approve of the service and that she will not argue back and forth with us because she is busy (all this while the chef is putting our hot food on our plate already). I tell her I’ve never had an issue with Miyako until now and tell her I need to talk to her manager or the next person above you because you are not handling our situation correctly and our not taking accountability. She tells me that she will bring me the store managers info and of course she doesn’t come back with the information. Our table is shocked at this scene that the alleged manager Amy made and we all agree that Miyako is not a place anyone of us would like to return to because of this terrible customer service experience. We all agreed to file a complaint with the restaurant owner and would like to be...
Read moreTIP IF YOU GET A WAITER NAMED JUAN CARLOS, ASK FOR A DIFFERENT WAITER! I'm giving a rating of four stars, because the food is absolutely delicious! Amazing sushi! Excellent hibachi (although my favorite is still Kampai, over by John's Creek). I was extremely disappointed with the service, but I understand that it was a particular individual, and not the restaurant to blame! Our waiter was "Juan Carlos" (that is how his name appeared on our check). He made our date night very unpleasant! My hubby ordered hibachi, and I ordered a salmon California roll. Anyone who knows anything about sushi, knows that a California roll is the style of the way they roll it. Not what type of fish is inside! Our waiter protested that they would not substitute salmon for crab, telling me that a California roll only comes with crab, so I explained to him that a California roll is not strictly crab meat. He proceeded to ARGUE with me! I told him to go ask the sushi chef before he carries on arguing with me. He told me that they would charge me extra for salmon, and I said that was fine. He was very rude, and argued to a lengthy extent about the whole ordeal. I was very clear that I wanted to substitute the crab for salmon, that I did not want any crab, and absolutely no cucumber!!! When he brought my order, it was a crab California roll, WITH cucumber, and a slice of salmon on top. He clearly wasn't pleased when I sent it back! I had to send my order back twice! They remade it three times! Then our waiter had the nerve to charge me for the crab and the salmon! But my correct order only had salmon! Very appalled at how this waiter treats customers! I would also like to remark, that the employees were in such a rush to close up at exactly closing time, that they started shutting everything off while there were still customers eating! We didn't even get to...

What I Got:
Two orders of the steak and chicken hibachi dinner with fried rice and an order of california rolls.
Pricing is a little above average. Total cost was about $50.
Pros:
The customer service at the front desk is nice. The waitresses are all dressed up in cute little kimonos.
The cook was pretty laid back. He did all of the tricks you would expect - like the onion Choo Choo train, etc. But you could tell he was just a young man who looked asain and playing the part and not an actual asain cook.
Cons:
Now I understand that my guest and I came towards the end of the day, but there are still standards that should be upheld till the doors are closed. They did not uphold these standards.
The food quality was disappointing.
You could tell they watered down the soup/broth, the salad dressing, AND the teriyaki sauce. All were flavorless, bland, and watery. There was no texture - just water.
The meat had been sitting out for a while. You could smell AND taste the faint odor of old meat. You can't fake this scent, so I know it was definitely left out. It was meat that has been sitting in a container all day at room temperature.
The sushi was not fresh. I could tell they were pre-made California rolls. The rice was harder than normal.
The server took our drink order, gave us our drinks, and never came back. The bus boy delivered our sushi AND cleaned our plates. We looked all over for our waitress to bring us our check...it was already ten minutes passed their closing time. The manager finally saw us and came to help. He gave the ticket to the busboy and the boy found the waitress.
They need to give those busboys a raise.
Fire the waitress.
And fix their food!
Would I Recommend?
No, I won't be back. There are better places with...
