Is It Little Chicken or Chicken Little? This American Deli location is average. We ordered a Cheeseburger and Wings (Garlic & Parmesan, Honey BBQ & Sweet Thai Chilli). This was our first time at am American Deli and my review is based on that experience.
Pros: The chicken wings are tasty and moist (we didn't try a dry rub flavor). The Garlic & Parm is good. Wife liked it but it has a hint of lemon that I could do without. Big Burgers! They serve an 8 oz (1/2 lb) burger. It's hearty & well dressed. You won't be hungry afterwards. The sesame bun is nicely toasted. The flavor is average (nothing I'd go out pf my way for but if you want burgers and wings this may be your place). Nice garden salad. It's more than just lettuce & tomato. I like that it's not smothered in cheese like many places.
Cons: My original question: Is it little chicken or Chicken Little? Though tasty, these are probably the smallest chicken wings I've ever had. Unlike their burger the average person could probably dust off 20 of these and still not be full. Drumettes should be tender & meaty. They are cooked nicely so they aren't dried out but they're not very meaty. The wings are shorter than my wife's pinkies and she has petite hands. (See photo) That said I'll reiterate the flavor is good. Customer Service. I'll admit I'm a stickler for good customer service. Nobody wants to spend money at a place and get rude treatment. The lady who took our order over the phone seem to be short and not very friendly even after I admitted at the beginning of the phone call that it was our first time coming to American Deli and that we were going to have some questions since we were not familiar with their menu. I've seen other reviews that mention similar encounters and I would have to agree with them. I had to knock off the star for the customer service.
Overall average place with some highs and some lows. I'd be willing to give him...
Read moreFirst and last time ever going to this location. I usually go to the one in Atlanta on Gresham Rd, but I was in this area today. I should've just gone to Wendy's or something. I actually didn't do a drive thru because I also needed to use the restroom. However, they still have everything restricted like it's 2020 when COVID first hit. No tables, no chairs, no bathroom access. It feels like really, they just want your money and then want you to immediately get out, not that they're being pandemic safe. I had to use the bathroom at the QuikTrip across the street.. which was disgusting.
The customer service here is awful. Not personable, dry, and sterile. The lady in front of me called her order in ahead, but it wasn't ready when they arrived. Our food ended up being ready together. They still have plexiglass partition at the counter so you have to talk thru the little speaker, but somehow you still have to repeat yourself over and over for just a single combo order. I asked for a 6 count lemon pepper, wet. It cost $9.53. At my usual location, it's about $7.50. It was an Asian male that took my order.
Usually they open the container for you to look at the food and approve, but not this location. He passed my bag to me and walked off. I opened it to find the tiniest, most dry wings in North America. Most of them had no sauce or seasoning at all for almost $10.. they got me really messed up on this fine Saturday afternoon. Not...
Read moreI recently visited the American Deli on Floyd Road in Austell, hoping for a delightful meal. I decided on the wings and Gyro sandwich. While the taste was passable, the overall experience left much to be desired.
A couple of glaring issues stood out:
The ketchup was excessively diluted, causing about 20% of the bottle to empty with a single squeeze. The Tzatziki sauce shared a similar fate – it was so watery that it has to be poured instead of spread. It's paramount that the quality of condiments complements the meals.
The most alarming observation was the presence of a live roach near the soda machine and condiments. This raised significant hygiene concerns for me. Where there is one roach, there are many.
I support local businesses, but they must maintain specific standards, especially regarding food safety and cleanliness. I hope the management can address and rectify these concerns promptly.
$27 wasted. Food in the trash! No need to talk to management here they are never helpful.
The young lady at the register was kind but the decision was out of her control.
