We have been coming to Osaka for years. The last couple times we have ate there the food was not as good. Tonight we ate there for my husband's birthday. When we walked in the place was hotter than it was outside, and it was 92 degrees outside. We decided to stay and just deal with the heat. While sitting, we noticed how hot the grill was. It was almost as if we were sitting next to a fire.
After 10 minutes the waitress finally came to get our drink and food order. My husband ordered two sushi rolls as well. They did not come out until after our food had been cooked. The salad was not fresh and the lettuce was turning orange due to that. The cook was great with our kids, but the food was not good at all. Honestly, I do not think it was his fault either. The grill was way too hot and started to burn the food immediately. The fried rice was crunchy (almost as if it was not completely cooked when boiled). That made the rice not even worth eating. The grill being too hot not only caused the food to burn, but it also caused the grease/sauces to pop all over the place. Our youngest child kept saying his eyes were burning due to this. When we left my our sunglasses we had on our heads while inside, were covered in little grease spots. We all felt gross and like we needed showers after leaving there.
The waitress was the only one in the whole restaurant waiting on all the tables. This caused her to take longer than it should have for drinks, food, and checks. The owner did not even seen to be helping any either. He walked around and stood behind the bar not offering any help to this poor girl.
Within 15 minutes of leaving all of us felt sick to our stomachs. We have decided this was our last time eating here. We will take out business...
Read moreMy wife and I were invited out to dinner with a group of friends who were all going to enjoy the Hibachi Grill at Osaka. Besides being a very pleasant evening out with great people we were impressed at the service and food at Osaka Steak and Sushi.
This establishment sits in a shopping center off Georgia 400 and is not visible from the highway so we did not know it existed. However, from the crowds on a Friday night, many others were familiar with this place. Despite being crowded the seating moved pretty quickly around one of the traditional Hibachi grills.
Our server was very friendly and at our grill almost immediately. She took our drink order and then returned to take our dinner orders. Our Hibachi Chef followed quickly and began to prepare our orders confirming our order and how we wanted items cooked such as our steak.
My wife ordered her meal cooked dairy free with no butter due to a food allergy and her request was accommodated. I ordered the Steak and Sea Scallop meal with vegetables and everything was cooked to perfection. The chef's put on a show at each table and our chef did a great job in entertaining the table. I think my scallops were some of the best I have had, fresh and cooked to perfection.
We finished our meal and were provided with takeout boxes to bring home leftovers and our checks were settled.
Overall this was a great experience and we want to return to try their bento box meals for lunch sometime soon. The cost was on average with other Japanese Steakhouses we...
Read moreThis was my second visit and it was just as bad as the first time I went there. The first time I went in on a Friday and tried to get the lunch special. Was told that they don’t do the lunch special on the weekends by the older lady. Last I checked Friday is still a weekday. Then not even 5 minutes later the blonde haired server that was there took a lunch special order from a different customer.
This time around I went in on a Tuesday. Walked in and all I got was a finger point to the sushi bar. Sat there for 10 minutes waiting on some kind of acknowledgment. Didn’t get a menu or anyone asking for my drink order. All the while that same older lady just stood at the end of the bar starring at me. Had to ask if anyone was gonna take my drink order or hand me menu. The sushi chef at the bar said someone would be with me in a minute. Waited another 10 minutes. Now mind you there was barely anyone in the restaurant. Finally got my drink order in and waited another 10 minutes after I’ve placed my menu down indicating I was ready to order before it was taken. Got the nigiri and sushi combo with miso soup. Miso was subpar. No tofu or seaweed in it. The tuna roll was ok. 3 out of the 5 pieces of nigiri had old fish slime on the underside of the fish. I used to be a butcher and know what that means. That fish had been sitting for a long time and wasn’t fresh at all. Can’t believe I expected this place to be any better the second time around. Just go one of the other options in the area. This...
