This afternoon, myself, a friend and her toddler child had an incredibly disappointing experience with unprofessional and disrespectful waitresses. Our primary waitress named Lucia, according to the receipt, demonstrated a lack of care or level headedness today during lunch. It was relatively quiet and slow inside, so there was no visible distractions or overwhelming numbers that could've been a reason for our poorly delivered service. From start, Lucia didn't provide utensils or straws to the table. The complimentary chips and salsa were edible, but nowhere in the vecinity of being tasty. The toddlers food came out separately and after we, the adults, received our dishes first. My food was edible, but under seasoned. My friend took a bite of her food and grabbed a napkin to spit it out. I encouraged her to say something because spitting out food in the first bite is a sign of disapproval, if not disgust. With Lucia making no return steps in our direction, my friend got up and found Lucia to ask her to take the food and replace it with another menu choice. Lucia pretended not to understand the request, put the order in a to go box, brought it back in a plastic bag and said that the other dish would be out in a few minutes. My friend got the attention of another waitress and restated the request. That waitress claimed Lucia didn't understand then took the bagged food away and returned with the new order. My friend said time has passed now and that she will just take a to go box for the replacement order, especially because she still was not given any utensils/silverweadr to eat with. Lucia returns to our table, and her false confusion is brought up. Lucia states that ot os policy that if food is tasted it must be paid for, regardless if you don't like it. She then added on that my friend would have to pay for the dish she sent back and the one sitting on the table getting cold waiting on the table. They go back and forth for a bout a minute, then Lucia calls over the other waitress who claims the first order was already deleted off the tab, contradicting what Lucia emphatically claimed seconds prior. The other waitress then loud talks and over talks my friend stating its an unwritten policy that tasted food can not be returned or exchanged and that by her not paying for it, the manager will deduct the food from their pay.... Not knowing that we can understand spanish, both women start making disrespectful remarks about why my friend thinks she can say she doesnt like something and exchange it and why she got tor he point of stating take the now cold untasted 2nd dish away on off the tab as well. My friend asks for the manger 3 times during the back forth. Both waitresses ignore the request and proceed to cop even more attitude turn their backs on us, and Lucia eventually says "fine, then I guess I will have to pay for your food". The suspicious practice of deducting food orders from the wait staff is news to me, and also a problem they have to address with their management, instead of attempting to garner sympathy from dissatisfied customers. All of this transpiring in front of a toddler SMH After a receipt reflecting only the child's order was provided, Lucia throws down a pen to sign the receipt. My friend asks for a 4th time to see and speak to the manager and again her request was ignored. We waited a few moments for one of the wait staff to come get the signed receipt, but they did not. We walked away feeling disrespected and poorly treated. I suspect that there was NO manager on duty, especially because at the end of all the loud talking and rude service they spewed they violated their own unwritten policy and took the tasted food back!!!!!!!! Only the child left decently fed with just some frozen Tyson chicken nuggets in her little system. This was our first and last time visiting this establishment. The "authentic" food is ranges from bland to nasty. The service...
Read moreWe were in the mood for some Mexican food, but not wanting anything Tex-Mex, we opted for this truly authentic restaurant. This was a real deal when it came to the plates!
It was busy and you could see by the parking lot it was a popular place, people were parking in an overflow area too.
It was a nice change of pace. Our experience started with the chips and salsa they provide as always. This place does not have alcohol, no big deal there, so my wife gets the Hibiscus Tea with pineapple juice, and I got the Horchata. Both tasted very good. Especially the Hibiscus Tea and Pineapple was a pleasant surprise.
The menu at the location is primarily in Spanish, but there are bits of English to understand what they are, and the servers will help translate it too.
Our order consisted of a Chicken Tamale for my wife, and a special dish of Costilla’s de Puerco en Salsa Rojo, or Pork ribs in red sauce with rice, beans five tortillas, and a salad. She said that the pork was very tender, and the sauce had enough heat to enjoy the taste, but not overpowering. The tamale was stuffed with chicken and the Masa was just like you would expect. Wrapped in a corn husk, this is how it’s really made…
We also had the guacamole, and it was fresh… It added too the dishes we had, and probably should have got more than one of them…
My order was something I’ve never tried before, it was a soup, but not just any soup… It was called Caldo 7 Mares, translated into large soup with fish fillet chunks, scallops, octopus and crab legs with guajillo pepper sauce. The soup base was the guajillo pepper sauce, and it was stuffed with some items not mentioned, such as what I believe was mussels with the shell on some. The octopus was the entire thing in different sizes, with the beaks removed. It tastes much better than I make it sound… The spicy soup base topped it off. The dish came with five tortillas, and a plate of chopped green peppers and onions. It is a LARGE serving and filling…
There are many more traditional items on this menu, and some you’ve probably not heard of, but don’t let that keep you away from here. This is something you should try if you enjoy Mexican food, and this is the real stuff here.
I am positive we will be back here. The service and atmosphere are great. The crowds show you that it is...
Read more#1. This was a dinner with both my daughters and my granddaughter for the first time all together EVER and it's been 13 years since my 23 was taken by her father so I was hoping to have a breezy little dinner desert and drink together but definitely chose the wrong Mexican establishment to satisfy our craving of the authentic favorite cuisine we share a love for
#2. The only establishment that I've ever had chips n salsa with authentic dishes and NO ALCOHOL ON THE MENU WHATSOEVER and not being able to enjoy a Margarita, Pina, Tequila of any kind and not even a spiked Mojito.... is definitely NOT giving authenticity whatsoever
#3. Literally 3.5 people in my party so we don't even have to count my G-Baby or her nuggets in this one...... Not one item on any of our plates was correct in any shape or form to include literally asking me corn or flower for my tortilla and 3 minutes later bring me the complete opposite. Smh.
#4. Rude wait staff and I'm NOT one to pick apart people in customer service due to just empathetic nature I carry thanks to my mother in heaven.
#5. The fluent English manager listened intently and with a raised brow of concern but she blurted out something in defense of what she was reading to me off the menu and the problem had literally nothing to do with the well versed and fully detailed English written menu equipped with photos.... My oldest daughter went 0 to 60 and basically wrote what we wasn't gonna pay and then relentlessly had a quick rebuttle for everything that came out of her mouth from that point and she ended up walking our cost down to about one meal and threw in free dessert. Last ditch effort that I was offended and not flattered by as 3 women and a 6 year old that loves sweets.... 2 slices of cheesecake and one piece of fruit per slice was equivalent to spitting at the table and I be damned if I ever take my business to these low life sorry excuse for a family...
