Update 6/28/23: I decided to give it another since the "new" is over. They seem to have figured everything out and it was a much better, and even surprising experience.

Dine in service was great. The staff was super friendly. The food was good. The atmosphere is positive and encouraging.

Unlike many places, the employees smile and act like they care you are there. Even though it was busy my food arrived quickly.

I love that they are playing Christian music and had a quote on one of the registers.

Changed rating from 1 to 5 stars.

I will have to start coming here more often.

Origina review shortly after opening:

I lived in Texas for 15 years before moving here and am a fan of Whataburger. We've been looking forward to the opening. Unfortunately, it is disappointing so far.

Currently only the drive through is open so that's disappointment number one. You can't use their mobile app and place an online order, so that's disappointment number two. The disappointment icing on the cake is the massively slow drive through line.

I went at 10:00 am and there were only about 25 cars in line--unlike the 60+ when I drove by yesterday afternoon around 2pm.

It seems that they have decided to throw themselves into the ring tying to compete with Martin's on Canton for the slowest possible drive through I the county.

On a side note, why is it that fast food chains don't learn how to run a drive through from Chick-fil-A? They have mastered it and have are so much more efficient and streamlined.

Anyway, I was trapped in the line with cars in front and behind me and on my right and a landscaped curbs on my left as soon as I arrived. I was watching the time and literally moved two cars in over 10 minutes. That's over 5 minutes per car. Doing a quick estimated based on 5 minutes per car, so I would have had another 30 minutes just to get to where I could place my order and then another 20 minutes at least to get my order. Fortunately two cars in front of me decided it wasn't worth the wait.

They bailed and left the line when the got past the curb locking them in place. I followed their lead and left when I was able to get out of the trap. It was a waste of 20 minutes, but I didn't have the fortitude to wait another hour.

Unless you just are wanting to wait for some nostalgic reason I would recommend only coming in the middle of the night when there is no line until they get their act together. Right now they are too inefficient.

I'll come back again and update my review later when the new has worn off or if I can time it when there...

ZERO STARS needs to be an option, because that’s what this burger location deserves! There was one car in the drive-thru in front of me placing an order. An employee walks up to my car and asks, “What do you want?” Excuse me? “Do you know what you want?” With such a bad attitude, like she doesn’t want to be at work on Labor Day. (My receipt says the cashier’s name is Ariana A. at 12:07pm 9/4/23.) No, I’ve never been here before. She asked, “Do you know what you want or do you need a menu?” I need a menu. She said, “What?!” Like she was upset that I needed the menu. I asked if the fries were skinny or crinkled or seasoned or what, because there was no picture of them on the menu she gave me. She said “string” unpleasantly. I asked for a #1 combo with a bottled water. She said they don’t have bottled water, only cups…. What?! Even McDonalds, Arby’s, Cookout, and Chick-Fil-A have bottled water!) So I said Nevermind, just the burger by itself. I was done paying for my order, but the only car in front of me was taking soooo long to place its order. Then the car in front of me pulled up to the food window and didn’t get it’s food until 12:22pm. No one had the thought to walk my order to my car so I wouldn’t have to wait so long, I know it was my bag because when I pulled up he instantly handed it to me. I took the burger out the bag and thru the wrapper I could feel very cold! Unwrap my sandwich, the bun was extremely cold! Even the burger patty was NOT hot, not fresh, not even lukewarm. It was cool temperature. All that wait and poor service for a $6.03 COLD burger. I’ve never even gotten a cold burger nor bun from any other fast food spot ever. A cold bun?! Are they kept on ice or in the fridge?! No one had the sense to put my bun under a warmer??? Why is even the burger Patty cold? What were they doing taking that long? Thank goodness I didn’t order fries nor onion rings, I’m sure I would be even more upset over this experience. This was my first and last time ever going to any...

Beware the tea. I usually make it a habit to stop here when it is late and I have a craving for fast food, and I've learned the hard way that when you order late you had better ask them to make the tea fresh or you're going to get something that's been sitting out for 12 hours.

Normally, this is not a problem. Unfortunately, the quality of the employees has greatly diminished lately and I had the misfortune to get one surly kid who insisted that he "just" made the tea less than 45 minutes prior and absolutely refused to make fresh tea despite ordering several larges across a few different orders. Given no alternative, we decided to trust him and accepted the late-night mystery soup they were passing off as tea.

Big mistake. You could smell funkiness on it almost immediately, but he once again insisted that it was fresh despite the hour and the smell. Being that they are ordinarily decent to us, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and we accepted our rancid brew.

Second big mistake. Long story short, I spent a few hours in urgent care the next day and lived off of tea, toast, Powerade, and yogurt for the next few days. Two of my party also suffered from similar gastrointestinal distress following that visit, and the only thing in common across our orders was the tea.

Enjoy that previous 5-star rating dropping to a 1 just because you felt getting back to your conversations was more important than food safety, champ. We'll also be going to Taco Bell for our late-night fast food needs from now on. Perhaps a strong reaction to bad tea, but if these people are taking lazy shortcuts on safety with something as simple to prepare as tea, you know they are also cutting corners with more complicated food preparation -- I have no desire to see how much more exciting they can make food poisoning than what was...

EDIT: Wow... that's all I can say. Had to drop the service down to 1-star. Also dropped the atmosphere down to 3-stars because everyone was getting really annoyed. This visit I waited over 30 minutes for a hamburger & fries. Then I overheard a lady ask for an extra ketchup and the Whataburger employee said, "that'll be an extra $.40". They were not using the table numbers so order were just being called out. The girl calling out orders could not be heard. I watched her say, "1,2,3... gone". She then proceeded to place this gentlemen order on some shelf where it sat for another 10 minutes before he (and about 15 angry customers) started to crowd the counter looking for thier order. Very poor customer service.I haven't tried other locations around ATL, however, I think I'm done with this location. The food was what I remember. I don't know if they changed their spicy ketchup recipe, but it seemed to taste better. The atmosphere was good, and the dining room was clean. The gentlemen was quick to clean a table when someone got up and he kept the floors swept. The only issue I had was the speed of service. Seemed like a lot of employees working the drive thru, which is great if i would have went through the drive thru, but it took 18 minutes for a hamburger (and it wasn't busy inside... only one girl in front of me). Not sure if it was because I was there for about 40 minutes, but I did see several customers return their order because something was messed up (I didn't order this or this is missing jalapeños). Sounds like a line/ticketing issue after the order is prepared and getting it on the right tray/tent number. I WILL be going back no matter what. I just don't think I'm going to dine inside. For me, the Whataburger in Kennesaw, GA is the closest one to me, which is still an 8 hour drive.

First off, it took every bit of an hour and a half to get there. Like most new establishments, the drive-thru was wrapped around the parking lot moving at a glacier’s paste. When we went inside, of no surprise, the cashier’s line was almost spilling outside. That was because during this time, it was dinner. Get this, ONE CASHIER! Ikr?! God bless the young lady that was knocking ‘em out as fast as she could (not that fast). As we were waiting, we just looked around the neglected dining room. They finally got someone to attend BUT she wasn’t of no help because the little they did do, they got distracted by one of their friends. Conversation went on until the friend left. Now here’s the kicker, as if the slow service was enough….a manager came to assist when the line of customers had died down. Needless to say after loosing about 20 others that didn’t want to wait for one cashier. So, and this may send some of you into an uproar, the African-American Manager offered his assistance, the line SEGREGATED into two colors! Yes, COLORS! Whites with the young white cashier, and “colored” with the “colored” manager cashier. You just had to be there to see the racism shift! Like magic, I tell you. A black woman even offered the white family ahead of her so she could avoid skipping. They, of course, insisted to stay in the white line. I couldn’t believe it. As the manager, in an attempt to end silent racism, I would’ve sent young “Katie” (a name given to save face) on a break or to help in the dining room; forcing any white customer to order with me. I’m just that petty. Lol! Anywho, what a time to be in “C.ome O.n B.lack B.oy” County. Food was good though but that was expected. Eyes open ppl. Have a Goodnight.

December 1st visit the first week opened: Verdict: got in line about a quarter mile away at 5pm. Got my meal at 6:20. Staff are upbeat and friendly. Food is fresh and warm. French fries were similar to McDonald's...so that is a plus. I also ordered a side of onion rings which were very good, similar to Freddy's. So good as well. I got the #8 meal which is a Double Whataburger JR (which is similar in size as the McDs double cheese, with the exception of the Whataburger meat was more substantial than McDs) with cheese. It comes with chopped lettuce, tomatoes, onion and mustard fries and 32 oz drink. If I'd chosen the Regular Whataburger, it would have been like a Double whopper. The Regular Whataburgers are pretty big. They have a more limited menu than most locations. So I'm sure they'll have more options later as they become less crowded. Review: it was really flavorful EVERYTHING. The food was fresh, warm and the burger was chewy and juicy. Would I drive over 30 miles to eat here again and wait an hour and 20 minutes kind of good...probably not. But, it's on the level of quality ingredients and experience as a Freddy's or Culver's. I think Culver's has an edge though. First #Whataburger opened in Georgia.
