You know the rules, just because l write reviews on every place l visit. Pro or cons, check all my reviews, places yourself any everybody reviews. Maybe you might better experiences that i have had, good luck. Not so fast my friends, this place isn't for everyone and it wasn't for me today. This place dont treat like you like family. This is NOT my mamas house, i dont have to eat what they put on the table like mama does, better food.MMMM mamas cooking.......They dont deserve any star what so ever, 👎👎👎👎👎 You need to change the name from Black Bear Diner to you eat the food the way we want you to eat. People read the BAD reviews, What's wrong with this diner? the way that they prepare the food, the staff? This resturant isnt for everyone. l wanted the breakfast plate this morning, 🥓🥓bacon and 🍳eggs, bacon meaty not crispy, because they cook the bacon in a conventional oven and the bacon comes out, hard, crispy, or half raw and it comes out like beef jerky. They dont cook the bacon to order. Not so fast by friends, l also wanted my eggs 🍳over easy, and not runny, I think that the cooks at Black Bear Diners🐻 don't know how to cook over easy eggs 🍳. The waitress/mgr said that I wanted 🍳 over medium. I sad no, so she started to give me a lecture on the way I wanted my 🍳 eggs, funny I am an experienced line cook/breakfast cook professionally 8 years, and home cooking over 45 plus years total. When going to any restaurant and you are paying $20.00 for breakfast, why cant you get your breakfast made the way you like it? Your gone eat what they feed you. I dont think so my friends, if I am paying for it, I will have some say so in what I am eating and paying for. So instead of arguing with the manager/waitress I walked out with no breakfast, Why cant you get what you want with your order? I WILL BE CALLING CORPORATE, TO see on their policy on this situation I DONT THINK THAT I WILL SPEND MY MONEY AT THIS PLACE ANYTIME SOON UNTIL I GET SOME ANSWERS FROM CORPORATE OFFICE. It seems to me that is is a controlled environment. This dont work for me. I approve my texts. Corporate still haven't contacted me yet. So this place thinks its bigger then the customers that helps to keep them in business and they haven't contacted me yet so until they do, they are OFF LIMITS to eat there. I will tell my friends, family about this place. I think that there reply at the bottom of your comments is a robot. They enjoy, love all the good reviews but not so much about the bad reviews. Look at the other reviews, they say the same thing over and over or close to it. As of 5/22/2023, as of 5/30/2023,as of 6/15/2023, as of 6/26/2023, as of 7/15/203, as of 9/5/24, as of 6/12/2025 still no call back, l gave her my name and number,I wonder why? 😲😥😛🥵🤧☠👺👹🤡👿👽🥺 maybe they dont like constructive criticism!!!!!!! To this day they, the owner/management hasn't called me back on 8/11/2024,2/1/2025, still no call I guess they don't need my money, I don't think that they are ever going to call me!!!! They suck NOTICE have you notice when someone responds to all reviews, they are a robot, they say the same thing over and over to every review, what a 😃 they got your money 💰 why should they care about any reviews??? P.S. The person who responds to the reviews, say the same thing over and over. I called, left my name and number and my friends no call back. They you, me to reach out to them. Realistically they don't do anything because they got our money. I I that the person is a robot 🤖 p.s. I don't know this general manager Mike Galvaz, , sayin that we had talked before, I don't know him we have never spoken, he must have me confused with...
Read moreI'm not sure what they've done, but it has improved leaps and bounds since we used to come here. It used to take forever to get seated, and then another forever to be given water and silverware, and then another forever to have our order taken, and then it was a crapshoot whether we'd get our food in a reasonable time. The people were always friendly enough, just not efficient, and after several attempts to have a nice HOT meal at BBD, we gave up and didn't go back for several years. Years.
They're still in business, though, and someone wanted some Friday night fish fry, so we went in a couple of months ago with the whole family. Three generations. It was great! We had fun. Our server, Nathan, is so polite and helpful. We love him! He was great with the kids and brought everything hot and fresh, and was generally awesome (and no, LoL, were not related to him! He just did a really good job.)
Then a few weeks ago, the fish fry craving came back so we went in again, just the two of us, and Tamara took care of us. She is wonderful! So friendly and cordial. Does her job like a boss and has smiles and kind words for everyone.
I tried the fish that night, too, and got sick afterward, so that particular dinner is not for me, but they have lots of other yummy food, some of which I tried just last week when we went AGAIN! (We live in the neighborhood. Maybe we'll become regulars.) The hot turkey sandwich was great and I took half home for lunch the next day, so the price of it covered two meals.
We took two of the children with us and all they took home was a few chunks of seasonal fruit. This says a lot. We take them out to dinner often and most of the time, they take home nearly all of their food and it gets thrown away after a few days of sitting in the fridge. I don't appreciate that expense at all. But here, nope. They eat what they order and they ask to come back!
Nathan was our waiter again this last visit. He has not lost any of his charm since he was new. We will definitely keep...
Read moreTo start off, on a positive note, our server was very nice and apologized for the unfortunate incidents during our visit here. The manager didn't even say one word about the issues experienced when I brought them up at the register, that's the real 2-star rating. Ordered the FULL rack BBQ rib dinner, $15.99. I received 5 ribs, yes 5, and even confirmed that it was a "full rack" with our server. Ok, so 5 really good ribs, I'd be okay with that. I had to CUT a piece of the rib meat in order to eat my 1st bite... baby back ribs should NOT require"cutting" if they're done right. 2nd, the taste of the rib meat/seasoning was aweful. I just couldn't eat them, I didn't even want to take that home. My mashed & gravy, corn mix and side salad were really good. I asked the waiter if I could just get something else for the ribs, as they were going back. I opted for the fried chicken, that's a no-brainer item on any menu, right? Well, unfortunately, as I cut into my chicken breast, I thought I had hit bone because my knife wasn't cutting through. I thought, what in the world, the chicken looks cooked, and I'm cutting into the breast portion, so what was up? I put a finger to the meat and confirmed my suspicion, the meat was FROZEN still! I felt bad having to relay this to our server, but he was professional and apologetic even though it wasn't his fault whatsoever. He took the cold and frozen chicken away and had the kitchen cook another order, which I promptly put in a ToGo box, so who knows what surprises I'll discover later. It was obvious that the kitchen pre-cooks/bakes their chicken, freezes it, then they simply throws the meat pieces into the batter/fryer when ordered. No one bothered to insert a thermometer to check before plating. Bad, bad, bad. Finally, we ordered the apple pie a la mode, that was good. Our waiter got a nice cash tip, and the manager gets this generous...
