Update 6/2/2025 I believe there are two reviewers who are working together for defamation of character of a person who works there. Gregory Patterson and Michele Fernandez must know each other. When you have the vindictiveness and energy to not only bad reviews on Google but also on Yelp that screams of pettiness and absolute entitlement. In short, they have a very clear agenda.
According to our 2024 taxes of our household, we spent over $1000 in food at my kitchen. This isn't a place that we not only frequent It's a place that we love. I've worked my way up in restaurants from when I was a dishwasher to a short order cook to full cook to manager. What I learned from not only being in the kitchen but being a manager among the customers is that you keep in mind there's some customers who absolutely do not need. You can do without their business because they damage the staff. They damage the very machinery that allows you to serve food and stay in business. You wouldn't allow someone to take a hammer to your delivery vehicles and smash out the windows and then apologize to them.
I've had customers tell me that the waitresses were rude only to observe them touching them in areas of the body that are extremely personal. They feel entitled to do whatever they want for what because they're the customer and the customer is always right?
90% of the time my interaction has been with Stephanie and as a 54-year-old man with 30 years of customer service she is excellent. The one thing I noticed that she does do is that she doesn't touch the credit card. She rings up the sum of the food and then spins around the point of sale system and says please insert your card. I've had my card stolen four times over the years at different restaurants. I believe that this is a very smart direction not only in security but quality control. In legal terms they call it "chain of custody". I don't know who taught her this, but I'm glad the staff adopted this practice.
The restaurant is always clean, the floors are always clean, the silverware and plates are always clean. The music is never too loud It's always at the right level. When I've spoken to the staff they look me in the eye and never on their cell phones.
Since the pandemic happened, it feels that people's entitlement over people in the service industry has gone to a level of complete and total disregard. Not even treating people like they're human, but they're objects.
A few years ago I was having breakfast at Liberty market in downtown Gilbert. The eggs that were delivered to me were burnt. It was a busy morning I could see the kitchen and they were getting slammed. A very polite waitress came back to fill up my coffee I asked her could I please send my eggs back, they're burnt on both sides. She apologized with a smile and said I'll have these back to you in a moment. When she brought them back they were still burnt but different eggs. I didn't have time. I left her a tip, paid my bill and left.
That night I left a very detailed review about how to cook eggs and depending on what medium you're using dictates how hot the grill should be. I was not rude in my review I just stated the facts. In the morning I woke up to a message from the owner asking me to please come back for better made eggs. To let me know when I was going to be there he wanted to meet me. So I did come back and the eggs were much better and we had a conversation just like this. Not all customers are right and you can afford to lose bad customers. He told me he had his cooks read the review and they told him the feedback was valuable. Especially the part of adding a little bit of water to not burn the eggs. I rewrote the entire review to Liberty market because they learned something from a customer.
The narrative of these one star customers screams entitlement and forethought of damage to the staff and a solid character of the...
Read moreSo I’ll preface by saying that this USED to be a good restaurant with a polite and respectful staff. Man how the times have changed. There is a dearth of good Chinese food restaurants in Gilbert so we have been here many times, in the past we had one or two things that were slightly off, but were acceptable. Once they’d over-salted a dish and asked how we felt and my wife said it was a little too salty, the chef came right out and said he’d like to remake it so we were satisfied to which we said that was not necessary. He was so nice and the food wasn’t that bad so she wouldn’t let him remake it. The food now is just a huge downgrade from what we had come to expect. We ordered a beef dish - Garlic Beef. We tried to ask the rude order counter lady employee which dish she’d recommend she said “they are all different I don’t know,” then we asked “does it have vegetables” she snapped “yes it has vegetables I can’t tell you what kind of vegetables it has.” So we wait for the food and the Garlic Beef was simply disgusting it tasted like white sugar dumped on peas, carrots, broccoli and beef! It was not edible. So a different lady who had served the food asked us how our food was and we said “is this the Garlic Beef extra spicy as we’d requested?” She said it was to which we replied “normally garlic dishes are not very sweet.” Then the rude lady came up to us and said “Garlic Beef is always sweet.” My wife is Chinese and we looked at each other and both said “we’ve never had garlic food of ANY kind that’s sweet and we don’t like it at all and there is nothing on the menu saying it’s sweet and you didn’t mention it.” She gave us a rude look and said well ours is sweet and walked off! No offer to make it again and an attitude like - duh you don’t know Garlic Beef is sweet? Needless to say they lost us as customers and I advise you to look elsewhere, the vegetables and meat used to always taste fresh and crisp now I think it’s all frozen crap. If you read my reviews, you’ll see I rarely give a negative review and typically only like to promote restaurants that I want other people to try because their food is delicious so this is a rarity for me to make a complaint about...
Read moreI ordered food from this place through Dash Door. The food arrives sealed, which I thought was good but the sauce for my egg for young was missing. I normally don’t order food through DoorDash, but I was not feeling well. So I love how they do the egg foo, but without the sauce, it does not taste good. I called the place four times the first time the lady that was in the front responded and when I mentioned to her about a food that I had ordered that was missing the sauce she hanged up. So I thought maybe there’s bad connection. So I tried calling again and again, and this person would hang up as soon as she heard my voice. So I decided to go myself because I needed an explanation. I was pretty upset. I did not offend her. I only told her that she was not a good manager. She kept saying I did not hear your voice. I know she did then she told me not to go back to the restaurant because I was being rude I believe she was being rude or she had to do was say yes ma’am come and get the sauce. She started checking my bag, knowing that the back arrived sealed which she explained had already sealed. And I’m looking at her like why would I Go to the restaurant if the sauce was in the Bag. This person is not a good manager. She does not have the skills neither of the patient very arrogant. She should be working somewhere else. I will never go back there again not because she told me not to go...
