Carl’s Jr. — Restaurant in Gilbert

Honestly, I'd never eaten in a Carl's Jr before, and so, was brought by a friend -- solely because that fact also blew his mind. I'd had the sourdough burger special (with waffle fries) and it and the customer service impressed me enough that I'm taking the time to leave this comment. I would "criticize" a little and say that the bun was more "Texas toast" than "sourdough" but was delicious and devoured, nonetheless. Now, my friend did treat me lunch, and that freebie isn't what made the food taste better, but when he did order, he'd forgotten to ask for the waffle fries vs your regular. Long story short, he'd remembered to ask AFTER he'd paid, then didn't realize there was a difference, asked if he could pay the difference in cost. At the same time a woman (total assumption she was a shift manager/lead), overheard, and said to us not to even worry, and she fixed it with the chefs. There wasn't even a problem, and she'd went above and beyond helpful. (She mighta previously overheard me botching-up my order and apologizing to the also-nice guy taking our order - I'm just not a fan of lettuce and tomato, aka "rabbit food"). Anyhow, extremely nice employees, and a "hmm... impressed" feeling before I even started filling my drink. We used to frequent this location, and enjoyed the food, staff was friendly. That is not the case anymore. Went through the drive thru this evening. The three different staff members I saw/interacted with carried a deplorable moral. There was no hint of even pretending to be friendly. No one wore gloves, only one had a mask on. On to the food.... I don't know if they ran out of large patties, but all of our burgers were kid size. If that. We ordered 3 double cheeseburgers, all had a single patty and made a McDonald's value cheeseburger seem appealing. The California burger was less than half the size it was a year ago. And all came on hard bread that was either old or left out. The fries were mush, as were the fried zucchini. That said, it was the first time our chicken stars weren't burnt, so, they got one star for that. 2nd star is for the famous star we got that only lacked condiments. I could handle bad food, or bad service, maybe even bad service with one or two bad food items. This trip however was an all around let down. Maybe its a new manager from a year ago? Maybe the manager doesn't know their staff is miserable? This place needs an overhaul! The company should do some serious app work while...

Why do you work in fast food if you have no desire to help customers? We walked in and immediately all three employees walked away from the register, then discussed among themselves who would help us. After a couple of minutes one employee reluctantly helped us. It took several times of repeating my order for him to enter it and I told him twice my order was to go. When we received it my hamburger was made incorrectly. All I asked for was no tomato, no cheese. Yes, they messed that up. Also, my order was all put on a tray, again I told him twice it was to go. Then the employee brought me a single bag to put my food in. I had three full meal orders and an additional burger. I was handed a single bag to bag my food myself. This place has the audacity to ask for a tip when paying for food. A tip, before I have received any real service. Unheard of. This store is going down hill fast. Their service is horrible, food made incorrectly, and in my recent trips the place is always empty. Probably a lot to do with employee attitude and service. I doubt I...
